In such a time as this, a lot of people want to drown in their own sorrows and drink their problems away. The reality that has come as a result is the increase in sin taxes such as alcohol and tobacco. It has even trickled down to those states who have forever lobbyed to keep these very taxes from being imposed, such as Kentucky has been the long standing state that provides almost all the bourbon and whiskey that are consumed by Americans, as well they are the majority leader in producers of tobacco found in cigarettes. While most people would agree with this type of taxation, is there reason to think this could come as a backlash as times grow harder? Time will tell, but in the mean time we are sure to see a rise in the prices of these alcohol and tobacco products!

Not only are the Cigarettes or "Cancer sticks" as i like to call them bad for the environment but there really bad for humans to. I think that we should tax the heck out of these types of products to minimize the use of them and make our government tons of money.

I have mixed feeling about this subject. On one hand, I think all consumer goods should be taxed at the same rate for fairness to the business owners. It is unfair to put a higher tax on one owners product just because it is considered a “sinners purchase”. On the other hand, our government is in need to find more money from taxes, so creating a higher tax for consumer products that are harmful to humans is not such a bad idea. In these rough economic times the higher tax may encourage consumers to relieve their stress on other activities rather than smoking and drinking.
