In the past America has been a "stickler" on crime, and have stuck to their guns on all issues. With the concern in the economy, and prisons busting at the seams crimes are easier to get away with. Certain states are loosening their low-level offenders, to hopefully turn away stays in prison, which saves the nation millions of dollars each year. With all things considering- I am biased in certain ways I do not find DUI's or being caught with marijuana offensive enough to land you in the slammer, so I see that as a positive - but also I may be young and find the use of those drugs "normal". But it is scary to think that because of the economy we are potentially allowing felons to get away. With all this economy talk I never thought I would see the day it could affect my safety!
