Texas boy, 12, charged with murder of thrown baby

HOUSTON — A 12-year-old suspended from school for fighting killed a 10-month-old baby by throwing him to the floor at a home where several young children were unsupervised, officials said Wednesday.

Who is to blame in a case like this the mother of nine or the 12 year old left home to watch them? Children don't understand their actions and what the consequences lead to, but even still by that age we all no right from wrong. Could this be a learned behavior? The abused often act out in violence, he was home suspended for fighting. Could he be to blame or was he just acting out the only way he knew how?

It must be hard to determine exactly what was going through this adolescents mind in this situation. If it can be proven that he did indeed know what he was doing, I believe he should be punished just as others would. Learned behavior or not, murder is a crime that can not be reversed. Hopefully this child can be rehabilitated and at some point released back into society.

Children like this need to be advocated, not criminalized. There has to be some sort of investigation into what would make a childs mind be wired to do such an act. Society can jumnp to conclusions but ultimately the problems were started in the home and proper psychological evaluations have to be made.
