Obama to troops: Iraq mission to end in August 2010

According to President Obama he announced in front of 2,000 marines and broadcasted to the rest of America that he was going to pull out the 90,000 troops from Iraq in 2010...I am glad to be hearing this from a new president, I would hope for this but I don’t know if it’s going to be possible...and is this a bad thing that he broadcasted the time that he wants to withdraw our troops?

The idea of withdrawing from Iraq seems scary to me. I just want to know that we have finished what we have started. If that takes longer than 2010 then so be it. I think putting a set time to pull our millitary out was a bad idea in the presidents part.

If troops do not have a presence in that country it will deat itself all the money that we have spent and all the lives that have been lost will be invein. Everything that we have established there will fall apart. Iraq will become a terrorist breeding ground and theier targets will be the Western civilization. I leave you with one question, would you rather be fighting there or in your own back yard?

It's good and bad for the withdraw news. In one aspect it keeps the moral of the troops high. On the other hand it sends a message to terrorists that they can win against a super power and its only a matter of time until they can come out of hiding and plan another attack.
