Colleges push tuition aid for illegal immigrants

Wading into the politically charged immigration debate, a group of colleges and universities is urging Congress to give illegal immigrants tuition aid and a path to citizenship in light of efforts in several states to block them.

The College Board, made up of 5,000 schools and best known for its SAT college admission tests, released a report Tuesday that cites a need for federal legislation that would open up in-state college tuition, financial aid and legal status to many illegal immigrants in the U.S.

How is this fair by anymeans? This is the problem with our country we are always so worried about everyone else that we forget to take care of our own. College for most of us is hard enough to get into, now they are going to make us compete for financial aid. What country can we go to and get finacial aid let along get into a college?

All though I do agree with equal rights of all citizens, I think have to be a strong set of standards that have to be met in order to receive this type government funding. We are making so many cuts within the education departments throughout the US that something has got to safegaurd those who truly want to pursue and education.
