Good Science or Bad Manners?

Researchers are finding out that if overweight people eat less it may save the earth. Because food production is a major contributor to global warming, a lean population, such as that seen in Vietnam, will consume almost 20 percent less food and produce fewer greenhouse gases than a population in which 40 percent of people are obsese, close to that seen in the USA today. Transport emissions will also be lower because it takes less energy to transport slim people. Now this is science!!

I could see were this is linking completely, and considering most take out is unhealthy, you recieve it through a drive thru while your car is running, and is served to you in paper or plastic! The link seems to be very clear, but is somewhat farfetched considering the larger contributors to green gases have been known about for years- and are currently being prosecuted for their acts. I have yet to see Obama make a public announcement calling all obese the cause of the enviroments crisis- until he does this is its just a fun way to look at Americans as fatt, and wasteful.

I would like to see the report that claims this fact that if overweight people eat less it may save the Earth. It may be true but you could say the same if people that were not obese ate less as well. I do however like the idea when America is contrasted with Vietnam's food facts. If we only ate what we needed and not what we wanted, we would be better off because less greenhouse gases would be produced.

This is the most intriguing thing I've read all day. It seems like it would be so easy for America to cut down its food consumption, but it's not. We are one of, if not the most, obese countries in the world, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Every corner I go to there is at least 1 fast food restaurant, and in the state of the economy now, I don't see people considering what MIGHT happen with global warming years from now over their gluttonous consumption of fast food and large amounts of food now.

Although I agree that with current economic sstae we are in fast food joints are probably the best choices for most of america but I think the bigger problem to obesity is the fact that people don't excercise or go outdoors and play they are pretty much couch potatoes and thus it results in obesity, the fact that America is rated one of the most obese countries in the world has some relation if not complete relation to the activness of a person in their daily life.

On the grand scale of a world population of 6,848,329,929 people, where every individual does influence the condition of the earth on a daily basis, I can definately see how these statistics are sound. The world should promote healthier living and things like a leaner human race could only but benefit earth and its inhabitants. But without the greed of gluttony, less money would be spent on less healthy yet delicious food. Products themselves would have to be recalled and revised, changes that the world is unprepared and unwilling to undertake.
