President Obama will dispatch more than 17,000 troops to Afghanistan, the White House announced Tuesday.
"This reinforcement will contribute to the security of the Afghan people and to stability in Afghanistan," Obama said in a statement. "I recognize the extraordinary strain that this deployment places on our troops and military families. I honor their service, and will give them the support they need."
Obama said the deteriorating security in Afghanistan made the troop increase necessary, adding that the country has not received the strategic attention or resources it needs.
I knew that the new administration could not be that simple minded to think that they could remove the troops out of that region. It would make no sense at all to them or anyone else. I think that he should do just like he did in the pirate situation and let the military minded individuals handle what they do best. Fight wars!

If the security of the present troops in Afghanistan is deteriorating then I see no other choice but to back them up with more American troops. Obviously we are unable to pull out until democracy is restored without the presence of the Taliban to disrupt. I do see the criticisms of Obama not keeping his promise to pull out troops reaching an all time high though in the next couple months.

I agree with you and it mainly will come from all of the people who voted for him just because he was a minority. I swear he has never admitted to being black in any way shape or form but that is not what is important. The people who are not paying attention to what's really going on are always the first one's to speak.
