Crown Controversy

An openly gay judge asks Miss California if she supports gay marriage. Did she lose the Miss USA crown after saying she believes marriage is between a man and a woman? I think it is great that she stood to her grounds and I applaud her for that. In a sense it is a little out of line for the judge bring this kind of conterversal topic into a beauty pagent. Its almost like asking one of the girls how they feel on abortion. All around, it should have not even been mentioned.

I completely agree with you Olivia!! They always say there are some things you dont talk about in public and one of them is politics. Considering this was a nationally broadcasted PUBLIC show- it was completely uncalled for and I wish she would have just refused to answer, even though that may have hurt her worse.. I am glad she stood up for herself, and her morals but hopefully that was not the reason behind her loss.

The judge asking that question was out of line. That is personal belief and you should not be judged based on your feelings on Gay marriage at a beauty pageant. Miss California was most likely discriminated for her beliefs a prejudice the U.S has prided itself on not committing.

After all the beauty competition was Miss USA so i do not believe any question about events going on in this country are to off topic or controversial. The question was asked and the best way she could have answered it to please the judges would have been to say something along the lines of, "I support this great country and its decisions no matter witch side they choose". Abortion would have also been a good question.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and in this case, sexual preferences. Penalizing somebody for disagreeing with gay marriage is just as bad as penalizing somebody for being homosexual. They are both just plain wrong. It's sad that some people in our country have distorted views when it comes to what just doesn't agree with their opinion.
