"Proposing an amendment to the State Constitution to require that the Legislature authorize counties to levy a local option sales tax to supplement community college funding; requiring voter approval to levy the tax; providing that approved taxes will sunset after 5 years and may be reauthorized by the voters."
Being a poor college student I'm all for this and have no idea why something like this hasn't been put in place already. With the rising cost of college something needs to be done!!

Amendment 1
"Proposing an amendment to the State Constitution to delete provisions authorizing the Legislature to regulate or prohibit the ownership, inheritance, disposition, and possession of real property by aliens ineligible for citizenship."
I'm a little confused on this one. Maybe Mr.Q can help me out.
I don't think illegal aliens should be able to own property. I don't think ANYONE who doesn't pay taxes should be able to own property.
I'm not sure with the way this one is worded which way it's leaning but that's how I feel on that one!

Amendment 2
"This amendment protects marriage as the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife and provides that no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized. The direct financial impact this amendment will have on state and local government revenues and expenditures cannot be determined, but is expected to be minor."
I plan to vote "NO" on this one. I think to tell anyone, gay or straight or whatever, that their "union" will not be valid or recognized is just wrong. To refuse someone certain benefits because of who they choose to be with is ridiculous. And if the impact will be so "minor" then why have people spent all this time to draft an amendment on it?!?

Amendment 4
When we go to vote we will also be voting on some new amendments. I hope everyone has taken the time to look into them.
Amendment 4:
Property Tax Exemption of Perpetually Conserved Land; Classification and Assessment of Land Used for Conservation
I think that is a great idea. Land is a limited resource and I think if the amendment is passed the property tax exemption will provide an incentive for some people to start conserving.

Electoral College
In class we learned about the process of the Electoral College, where we cast a vote for which candidate we would like to see as the president and then it's left up to the Electoral College of each state to choose. Us Americans are able to vote for other government officials and the popular vote wins, however in the election of our president the process is different. Should this process be changed, seeing as there have been instances in history where the Americans popular vote would have meant one candidate received presidency yet the Electoral College chose the other candidate instead. There was a reason our founding fathers chose this procedure in the election of our president, but perhaps there needs to be a tweak in how operations are run in my opinion. Not neccessarily rid of the entire Electoral College all together but perhaps something should change.
