U.S. Drops Blackwater's Iraq Deal

The State Department will not renew Blackwater Worldwide's contract to protect American diplomats in Iraq when it expires in May, a senior U.S. official said Friday.

The official told The Associated Press that the contract will expire because of the Iraqi government's decision to deny Blackwater a license to operate. The Iraqis informed the State Department last week of the cancellation, which was made amid lingering outrage over a September 2007 shooting in Baghdad's Nisoor Square that left 17 Iraqi civilians dead.

It's funny because thses guys do the jobs that the soldiers can't. They have no rules of engagement the fire and then ask questions later. Their lives are not protected nor backed by the military. They fight when and where we can't. Iraq is denying their contract because of a single incident but the terrorist are killing the innocent every day, so what since does that make?

A single incident?! There are dozens of cases when Blackwater personnel have killed innocent civilians, I understand that on the battlefield it's a totally different world and hindsight is always 20/20, but we cant ignore the incidents. News agencies in the middle east are reporting of american mercenaries killing at will with no legalities to abide by. They are paid by US taxpayers and have free reign in Iraq with no oaths to anyone.

I am opposed to this being an American because Blackwater assists American diplomats in Iraq while they are helping the cause of war. For them not to want Blackwater operating is a threat to our diplomats. The shooting in September of 2007 may have decided this decision for the Iraq government but i hope that the future does not hold in it any dead American diplomats.
