It has become very apparent that special force tactics are quickly becoming the new art of warfare. We are starting to shift from the standard gigantic military forces to the smaller more mission specific force. The majority of the new threats to America have been smaller terrorist organization rather than another country’s military. This takes not only a new mindset, but also new tactics to fight it. During the last eight years we have started to implement the first major change in tactics since the Vietnam War. The only thing that is for sure is that the military that we currently know will not be the military of the future.

Personally I don't like this new form of warfare it's more about the actions of the few deciding the outcome for millions. War should be massive armies colliding to determine the future of the world not 8 people hiding a bomb in a cake. Granted it causes death on a massive scale, but that's what war is supposed to be.

The new form of warfare takes out emotional ties to actually killing somebody. It is more like a video game so it will be easier to systematically kill wide groups of people in the future if a bad leader gets in place.

I can agree with this and it is very scary. Watch the movie Body of Lies. For anyone that hasnt seen it it outs you into a perspective of what is going on and what we are doing. These small terroist groups are willing to take there own life to take out as many others as they can, innocent or not. This is the scariest thing because how can you stop someone from walking into a placewith a bomb, the military the police forces.....almost sayin the way of life could get very diffrent very soon.

This so-called new form of warfare surprise, surprise, has been around a lot longer than you might think. New technology is the catalyst for the implementation of smarter combat. The sword surpassed the rock, the phalanx obsoleted the mob, the gun replaced the sword. This is the way of warfare. I feel that it is great that a few specially trained individuals can do the job of many. That's called progress.

On the subject of the movie Body of Lies, it is a great film providing some insight to the modern methods of international political warfare. Change is inevitable and avoiding adaptions that our enemies make is putting ourselves at a disadvantage. I feel we waited too long and focused too much building up the size of our military when we should have payed attention to the more detailed aspects of educating our forces tactically.
