Even though the economy is rough, Walmart still shines. I see small business close down and new Walmarts come up. Walmart provides what small businesses try to supply, only to beat out the small businesses by convenience and mass marketing. Walmart offers jobs and benefits that small businesses struggle to support. Since the economical declination, Walmart still stands strong. Will it be one of the only companies standing in a few years? Mass marketing has been deemed a success by the people who profit from it, but what about the small businesses it is beating out?

I like walmart prices but can't stand how there is one on almost every street corner. I would much rather spend my money at a place that actually needs it. Walmart has been expanding for years and has successfully knocked out other department stores and small stores all over America! How many more Walmarts do we possibly need?
The issue in our economy isnt just that people are finding new ways to purchase things and not going to the mom and pop stores anymore but they are not buying at all. Walmart targets a certain level of society and does very well in that case but i dont think it will ever be the "king of the hill" or a last standing company

Although Wal-Mart has been successful, even in rough times, there will always be an entreprenuer willing and able to compete with Wal-Mart. These entrepreneurs may not beat Wal-Marts price, due to the economies of scale Wal-Mart processes, but may exceed in value and experience. For instance, although Target and Wal-Mart may seem similar to the naked eye, the revenue generating merchandise for each are quite contrary. For example, Wal-Marts highest revenue generating merchandise is grocery and pharmacy, while Targets primary merchandise for generating revenue is household items, electronics, and clothing. Wal-Mart has only shown to be succeeding in this declining economic time, due to the fact that the main financial services it provides is check cashing and money orders, which is still very high in demanded at this time. Compared to Targets main financial services, which is Credit Cards, that we all know is suffering due to consumers not being able to pay off their credit cards. The advantage Target has, is it can use this knowledge to add different financial services it has not offered in the past to balance the credit card problem. Ultimately, I do not believe that Wal-Mart will ever take over completely.
With how the economy is affected today, Walmart is a sufficient place for families to shop. It is a one stop shop as far as groceries, clothing, health products and every day housing items. The prices are affordable and the corporation has made such a big name for themsevles people truth their products. Unfortanetly it has grown so big that it does affect those smaller buisness but hopefully once the economy begins to pick up small buisness's will begin to stand their ground once again.

Walmart is successful because it provides products and services that Americans need, at prices they can afford. The nature of business is that if you cannot compete, you will fail. I'm sorry small businesses across the nation, but that is the way it is. I know of many small businesses that are very successful in a town with four Walmarts. I don't see the problem. don't blame others for something that is not their fault.

Walmart is still standing strong probably because most of the stores are open 24 hours. Many other stores are not open that long and Walmart is able to have many customers since they dont have competition throughout the night. Also, with the lower prices at Walmart many people choose this over quality of higher end stores, therefore the profit keeps getting higher. Walmart will probably keep striving through this rough patch of the economy.

I once heard a joke that walmart planned to not be more than 15 mins away from any city. Do I know if this is true or not? No, but it is a scarry thought. Walmarts low prices are at the cost of it's employees and communities they eat up. Walmart has poor health benefits and pay horribly that is how they keep there prices so low. They don't spend any money on those who make walmart run.

Im not quite sure how I feel about this subject. On one hand I would much rather support the common working man any day rather than THE Man. On the other hand, the prices that wal mart offers are simply unbeatable and the little guy just simply cannot come close. For example the other day I went a favorite local shop of mine to look for something and found it for $3.00. I was at wal mart yesterday and found the same product for $1.60! What can ya do?
