What is going on with gas?

Last night on the news, I saw that gas prices has went up $0.80 since last year? Florida is taxing $0.11 on to gas now. I am just wondering why should Florida tax gas that much?

Does Florida tax more on gas than other states do?

We need to make up on our budget down fall, so I guess some of it will come from the gas you use and the taxes the stations pay.

I remember someone on the news saying that we need to make up for the budget cut and economy.

All we are doing with the gas prices, is padding someones pocket and not the economy.

I heard on the news it could be $4 by the summer. That better be a lie!!! I'm going to have to invest in some roller skates or something!! If you see a fat, white girl, rolling down the street..please give me a ride!!!!

The really lame fact is - and I mean really lame, I love road trips and travel - gas SHOULD be prohibitively expensive. It's a disappearing resource, and people are dying to try and keep it under American control. We need to break our oil dependence before we run out, or we'll be in a very bad place. Honestly, I don't see Americans giving up convenience unless they get hit in the wallet. It's time to get up and walk, bike, skate, and rollerblade down to city hall and demand some more funding for alternative energy, and some serious, reliable public transportation.

Florida's gas prices are higher because it's a longer transit to bring gas to Florida. So since the gas companies have to pay so much to transport fuels here, they charge more for it. That's why the farther south you go down the state, the more expensive it is..the trip is longer.
