Choosing To Be Politically Active On Campus
Often as students we don’t stand up for things that happen to other students unless it directly affects us. Case in point, I didn’t really care about were there enough motorcycle parking places or where they were located. Lately I have had a change of heart because the weather was so great that I decided to ride my motorcycle to school. Our school “TCC” have only two designated areas two park motorcycles, none of which, were even remotely close to the building in which my classes are located. So on February 25th, 2008, I stopped to discuss my opinion with a TCC officer, his response was that it was out of their control and only administration could change the policy. So I went to the Vice President to voice my concerns about this issue with motorcycle parking spaces. He listened to my concerns and suggestions for the many cyclists on campus. His solution was to evaluate the needs and areas of concern, to meet the need of TCC’s motorcyclist. I was proactive because I did not want to be one of the students motorcyclist who broke the parking rules at our school . Because many cyclist are written tickets on a regular bases, I did see a need for the rules to be immediately ratified.

Ah, a very important topic considering Tallahasee itself is a poorly laid out excuse of a city with a police department that should be thanking somebody else for a low crime rate, because they don't enforce ANY laws here. I swear, if I became a police officer, I'd make the city millions my first week. Even when this black male driving a green car tried to RUN DOWN MY WIFE, and we had a licence plate number, a description, and witnesses, they still have done NOTHING!!! Makes you think twice about vigilante justice.
jd White, There is no excuse for the guy in the green car at all. JD pardon me for asking but I have to know you did not do anything to excite this "Black Mans Response" did you? AS a motorcyclist and a driver in general Tallahassee has many dumb, inmature drivers, whites, blacks and many other races and genders as well. I have followed dangerous drunk drivers breaking all kinds of laws, I called 911, to report their actions, vehicle make & model licence plate number, discription of the person driving and which direction and road they were traveling on they were unable to do anything and they advised me to just let them go. I've seen many people in Tallahassee run a red light infront of a police officer, out of more than 15 times I have only witness 1 get stopped. Jd White, hopefully your not going around trying to start or find trouble with other races our you might just get what you are looking for, and even more than what you expect!
So the gist of this is you had to walk an extra couple hundred feet? How exactly would you go about changing the parking rules, and why do they need to be changed? Is there even that many riders that go to TCC?
On a side note, what kind of bike do you ride? I am interesting in purchasing a motor cycle.
Andrew S., it's not about the walk per-say it's would be like the students could only park at the front lot and when they fill up your done, no place to park without getting a ticket. To change rules you have to persued the person with the power, { Tcc Persident or VP}, and yes there are alot of motorcycle riders at TCC. If the school had better motorcycle parking it would be even more.
My motorcycle is a Honda ST1100,Sport Touring Bike.
I still don't get it... What is wrong with having two designated spots, it sounds reasonable to me. If they fill up can you still park there or what? I just don't see what your trying to get at. Also, i cant wait until the garage is finished, no more parking in that dirt thing across the street!
The two spots that are avaible are not enough to for the number of motorcycle riders at TCC. Parking in a regular space with crazy student drivers will get your motorcycle run over.
At this point all of my great efforts to affect TCC's policies on "Motorcycle Parking" has yelded no results as of yet.
