Saying what Americans want to hear is a large tactic used in order for candidates to gain votes at the polls. Saying that you believe in, for example, equal freedom of speech for all and then disallowing an ex-rapist or a former Nazi to make a public speech is a prime example. Another would be a candidate agreeing in equal civil rights for all, then avoiding the subject, or becoming tight-lipped when a gay couple asks the candidate if they agree they should be allowed to marry.
I have two examples that I find extremely interesting, and would love to share with you all. The first one is from the CNN youtube.com democratic debate.
Democratic Debate: Gay & Lesbian Rights
From this video, to present day, have these candidates (ex. Clinton, Edwards) kept their word, or have they since then, changed their answers?
The second video is from a gay television show called Queer As Folk, which also gives a realistic and wonderful example of tension between government and state official’s proposals and what really happens when they are elected.
Season 3 - Episode 11
I love this show very much, and this clip was very intriguing to me. Is this video accurate in portraying realistic tensions between officials and injustice?

NO GAY MARRIAGE, NO SPECAIL GAY POLICIES, NO GAY'S IN THE MILITARY. I don't hate guy people it's just wrong. My hope is that they change, just like I want criminals to change. Its a attack on the very fiber of this country. When I was in the military were 50 guys shared the shame liveing quarters, bathroom and a common shower area. "It would have been a completely horriable and tragic experience to have a gay couple in that mix.." I didn't at the tome feel the same way about gay women because that was almost every young man's dream, to be involed in such a thing. Unlike the democratic debate "I will never changemy stance on this issue, It Is Wrong" and I am man enough to say it. As for the second video I think they should have the same justic as any one whom was effected by a crime. But I don't even like shows about gay's. Believe it or not I have some lesbain friends but I hope they will change, because it is wrong. God made Adam and Eve; Not Adam and Steve.
>NO SPECAIL GAY POLICIES
As far as I can tell, nobody anywhere has proposed any special policies for gay people, just the same policies that everyone else has.
>I don't hate guy people it's just wrong.
According to whom? If you make the Biblical argument, be prepared to cite a specific verse. Also read the surrounding verses, if you don't live by those verses as well, then you are being hypocritical to choose one and reject the others. And keep it mind it is illegal to base any law in the U.S. solely on the Bible. If you can't also make a non-Biblican argument, then it would be illegal to make a law based on your argument.
>My hope is that they change, just like I want criminals to change.
Comparing gay people to criminals if very offensive. Future language like this will be deleted from the blog. Scientific evidence shows quite clearly that a gay person can't change being gay, much like a black person can't change being black. I know there are groups out there who have claimed to have "changed" gay people. No scientific evidence confirms any of their claims. I know there are people who have claimed to have changed. Scientific research shows that the "changed" people are either lying (to you or to themselves), bisexual or were never gay in the first place.
>Its a attack on the very fiber of this country.
This is largely nonsensical. The fiber of the country has nothing to do with sexuality. Gay people have been getting married in Massacusetts for a number of years now and there have been absolutely no negative effects. Similarly, a number of foreign countries allow gay marriage. They are almost all wealthier countries that are high in their levels of freedom and they have shown no negative effects from gay marriage being legal.
>When I was in the military were 50 guys shared the shame liveing quarters, bathroom and a common shower area. "It would have been a completely horriable and tragic experience to have a gay couple in that mix.."
Another comment that can't be backed up by any real logic or evidence. Referring to a "gay couple" suggests you think that they would be having sex in the room? And you clearly aren't using the word "tragic" correctly here. There is no definition of the word that makes any sense here. Beyond that, all evidence suggests that, in all likelihood, there were at least five gay guys in that 50 guys. Gay people are allowed to serve in the military and even when it was illegal for them to do so, many people did anyway. That's why there were discharges of men for being homosexual, because they were there. Furthermore, there are a number of countries -- most notably Great Britain -- where homosexuals openly serve in the military and it causes no significant problems.
>I didn't at the tome feel the same way about gay women because that was almost every young man's dream, to be involed in such a thing.
Be careful, adding sexist comments to homophobic ones is a very bad way to pursue your participation grade/extra credit.
>Unlike the democratic debate "I will never changemy stance on this issue, It Is Wrong" and I am man enough to say it.
Abandoning critical thinking in order to exhibit bigotry against a group of citizens doesn't make one a man. If you study history enough, you'll discover that many of the arguments you are using here are the exact same arguments that whites used against blacks in the days of slavery and Jim Crow.
>I hope they will change, because it is wrong.
Repeatedly saying "it is wrong," doesn't actually prove anything. You have to back this up with evidence and arguments.
>God made Adam and Eve; Not Adam and Steve.
Every version of the Bible I've read said that God created everything, including Adam, Eve and Steve. Every version I've read also says "Judge not, lest ye be judged."
Off of the comment record, thank you Mr. Quinnell. You're a wonderful teacher.
I am a strong believer for equal rights for any human being and that debate really made me think, maybe someone will finally do something about homosexuals and even though I want to believe that one day things will change, I know it will be a challenge, because you know many people will try to fight it. For some reason giving a bit more “open freedom” to homosexuals seem to be a bit hard. I don’t see why but its always a challenge to get people to realize we’re all the same. I do believe that people’s views on homosexual could change. And maybe the Senates were speaking their true feeling about the issue. Oh and Btw awesome job Mr. Quinell, I couldn’t say it any better!!
This is my position, based on the truths of the word of God. Which has transformed me into a total new being, I had many prejudices as a young man, now I have knowledge to help people not destroy them? It was not my intent to hurt, belittle, attack, slander anybody by anybody bye this response to Lindsay’s Post. However we must wake up American people and the world alike.
With that in mind I now will address some issues that I stated and Mr. Q., disagreed with
I don't hate gay people it's just wrong.
According to whom? My response: “God”
>If you make the Biblical argument, be prepared to cite a specific verse. My response: “Romans 1: verses 26 -32”, vs. 26“Because of this God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.”vs. 27 “In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
>Also read the surrounding verses, if you don't live by those verses as well, then you are being hypocritical to choose one and reject the others. My response: “Romans 1:18 – 32”
My hope is that they change, just like I want criminals to change. My response:
Mr. Q., neither my thought process nor my intent ever compared gay people to criminal. Gay people are like any other people. That is we are all sinners and they “can change” just like you or I, there is proof throughout the bible in-fact, that anyone can change this includes but is not limited to “gay people.” “People can change” I think you made this point in one of your earlier responses!
It’s an attack on the very fiber of this country. My response: Let me clarify “The Moral Fiber” I think you can see where I can back this one up in light of the scripture. Somebody’s strength of character or sense of right and wrong• the moral fiber of the nation Source “online dictionary”
>Gay people have been getting married in Massacusetts for a number of years now and there have been absolutely no negative effects. Similarly, a number of foreign countries allow gay marriage. They are almost all wealthier countries that are high in their levels of freedom and they have shown no negative effects from gay marriage being legal. My response: No negative effect by whose standard? There are negative effects whether we chose to open our eyes to it or not. “Romans 1: vs. {26 – 32}
Ephesians 5:vs.23, “For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the savior.” And you say that gay marriages have not negatively affected who? Is this the thought that prevails in America? Please forgive me for saying; I don’t think you can back up that statement with evidence.
When I was in the military were 50 guys shared the shame living quarters, bathroom and a common shower area. "It would have been a completely horrible and tragic experience to have a gay couple in that mix. My response:
note the words “gay Couple”, if they Marines living these conditions would have saw any two males kissing, hugging, caressing, writing or even talking like that: Not including sex between two men, it would in-fact be “tragic, disastrous, catastrophic, awful, terrible, dreadful, appalling and most definitely unfortunate for those involved.” Like myself at the time just about all Marines in my squad bay was absolutely Homophobic. I know now that it was wrong but back then, if there were a gay couple in that squad bay they probably would have died or beaten nearly to death with little recourse.
I didn't at the time feel the same way about gay women because that was almost every young man's dream, to be involved in such a thing. My response: “1 Corinthians 13:vs.11”
“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.”
>Be careful, adding sexist comments to homophobic ones is a very bad way to pursue your participation grade/extra credit.
This was not an attempt to be a sexiest on my behalf. Looking back however I realize that I was definitely a “sexiest”, at the time.
Unlike the democratic debate "I will never change my stance on this issue, It Is Wrong" and I am man enough to say it.
>Abandoning critical thinking in order to exhibit bigotry against a group of citizens doesn't make one a man. My response: It as I have proved is Wrong, I have neither abandoned critical thinking nor attempted to exhibit bigotry against anyone, instead I have stated positions I held in the response to post about this issue. As for the issue of just getting extra credit, “it has become some short of compulsion of mine to think critical and take up issue with things I see!”
I hope they will change, because it is wrong.
>Repeatedly saying "it is wrong," doesn't actually prove anything. You have to back this up with evidence and arguments. My response:
I didn’t provide support because I just didn’t want to go there; but know that all that have inquired can see the facts for themselves! Do you suppose their response will be any different now that I have supported me thoughts?
God made Adam and Eve; Not Adam and Steve.
>Every version of the Bible I've read said that God created everything, including Adam, Eve and Steve. Every version I've read also says "Judge not, lest ye be judged." My response: You Mr. Q. Are correct on one thing you said here “God created everything” and he did create Adam and Eve but when he created Steve, He Did Not create Him For Adam. Now that would be highly offensive to God who is the only True Judge.
>Every version I've read also says "Judge not, lest ye be judged." My response: “Matthew 7:Vs. {1-2},1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
I wasn’t sitting in judgment on any one, that’s what God will do. He did not say I couldn’t Judge he said that “How I Judge, I Too Will Be Judged.” That is reading more than just that verse by the way. Mr. Quinnell, this is critical thinking, I can say and it feels great. I’ve been up all-night with this one; I hope people read it carefully and don’t pull from it I have clearly stated what I feel. Nothing is left out at this point except, I Love People. That’s how God made me.
Respectfully Submitted L. Turner.
Reading the bible, for a mixed religious country, is just about like reading Tao paths to Long Life to a Baptist.
Amen sister.
Perhaps that one of the problems, the fact something so important as the bible can be disreguarded so easly. I did make these things up, but I must live by the word. So angain I must say wake up and realize we are corrupting and destroying ourselves. To Lindsay and josh J., remember I'm not the judge, just the worker. Mr. Q., is a very specail teacher I agree.
What an interesting and might I add, valient conversation by persons of such obvious different backrounds. To put myself out there. I was extremely religious in my youth, oppisite dear Turner. I devoted ten years to preaching the word of god. In that time I learned compassion, worldy knowledge, and what I thought was "truth". The assmebly I was apart of didnt believe in homosexuality so.... nither did I. As I got a little older I realized that everyone needs something to believe in. It is our own versions of "truth", that we strive to validate. At the end of the day it is your decisions, and your choices you must live with. If you comply with what you believe your higher power wants and are satisfied then, "more power to you". Just remember, it is eaches own destiny of their lives ecstasy. At the end of the day its an accumulative of your thoughts receptivity and they are always changing.
Wow! Ok, where do I start?
I agree with things from everybody on this blog!
I believe in the bible. I won't sit here and recite scripture to you because Lamar did a great job of that. The book says what it says and I would be out my mind to argue with it.
I do not agree with homosexuality but every person living on this earth deserves the same rights as anyone else. When it comes to marriage I try to picture things as if they were reversed. What if I was not allowed to marry the person I love because some people thought it was wrong? That's crazy!! NO MAN OR WOMAN ON THIS EARTH HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL ANYONE WHO THEY CAN MARRY! But I do truely believe that there is ONE man that we will ALL have to answer to.
What you believe and what you do is up to you..just be ready to answer for it when that time comes.
Gays in the military. I think anyone is lives in this country has the right to fight for it. About the "don't ask, don't tell policy", I'm not gay or in the military so I don't really know, but I would think it would be better for them for it to stay that way. Just for the reason like we've discussed in earlier blogs, that there will always be ignorant and hateful people and I just think it would be safer for gay people in the military if they weren't open about it while on duty. I just don't want to read about a gay soldier getting beat with a tube sock filled with soap but do what ya want pal!
http://www.kevincassell.com/blog/index.php?id=3&num=1 One of the funniest things I've read in a long time.
Here’s an analogy that I hope will help end any further debate on this issue. I t starts like this; There was a teacher his name was, Mr. John Brown. One day Mr. Brown said to the class there will be an exam on February 25th, 2008 at 12:20Pm classroom 1041. The text will only cover questions from all quizzes, two homework assignments and two extra credit assignments, “YOU DO NOT NEED TO STUDY ANYTHING ELSE.”
Point one: Would it be wise to come to take the test on February 27th, at 9Pm in classroom 2010?
Why not?
Point two: Would it be beneficial to study what ever made you feel good or what ever you thought was important to you?
Why not?
In this case the best thing is clearly to do what the teacher has said in detail. Take a moment and think about the responses some have made and you will find it just doesn’t add up. We know the teacher and he have given us the answers to the test: TO PASS IS TO LIVE, TO FAIL WELL LETS JUST SAY I DON’T WANT THAT OPTION.
It Is Not Just Do What Feels Good To you, try that on Mr. Brown text on February 25th, 2008 AND YOU WILL FAIL!
Lindsay I, didn't get the funy bug from that one, sorry maybe next time.
I will make this very clear since some people just obviously do not know.
GOD DOES NOT HATE GAY PEOPLE. GOD DOES NOT HATE STRAIGHT PEOPLE. God said himself that He hates sin but LOVES the sinner. The fact that Kevin Cassell would say either one shows just how little he knows about the subject he is trying to inform us on. Mr.Cassell is twisting scripture to validate his own interpetion on those particular verses. You cannot use ONE book of the bible (or a few verses of one book) to argue what God "really thought." As a matter of fact by Mr.Cassell's interpation of those verses I think it's safe to say he hasn't read the whole entire bible. I feel sorry for him and anyone who believes what he writes.
Kristen P., I have one word for you. You are on fire. Okay you caught me I can't count it was three words.
haha! Thanks.
Personally, I don't believe in the bible, and going back to the point of this post, the bible does not need any place in government where there are mixed religions and others who don't believe in scripture from a book that was created when we believed the earth was flat, and the center of the universe.
Which one is more of a pain in the spine to deal with? The so called, “Christian” who points fingers saying, “You’re a sinner! You should never marry your partner! You’re against every moral fiber America was built on!” Which, by the way, the founding fathers of our nation did not care for so much, or the gay couple, or even for that matter, the Jew or the black Muslim who walk down the street, marry who they want, and just want to get through the day without being bashed by someone who’s too far right-winged or naive? I’m not saying all Christians are like that, however many of those who are in fact homophobic tends to be largely conservative Christian or major right-wing authoritarianism. 75% of people committing hate crimes are under age 30.
“Most gay rights activists say that the believing homosexuality to be sinful is not incompatible with support for gay rights legislation, as it is in the spirit of the religious philosophy of "hate the sin; love the sinner" and the Biblical injunction to "judge not, lest ye be judged" (Matthew 7:1). The majority of gay rights activists support religious freedoms and the right of religious persons to hold their views, but say those beliefs should not be allowed to adversely influence their position as equal citizens under the law. Religious opponents of gay rights laws, however, believe that supporting pro-gay legislation would constitute approval of homosexuality itself, something which is incompatible with their faith.” -- Retrieved from "http://nostalgia.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homophobia"
The second reason for this post, which no one has yet to really comment on was whether or not the second video was accurate, and whether or not you believe that those candidates from the first video have kept their word so far in the campain.
And by the way, who's to say his version is wrong or right? Is it because someone told you what the interpretation is, or that you took what you read and twisted it for your own reasoning? Did someone teach you that in church? Or did you think for yourself?
It doesn't matter if anyone believes what the bible says or not because it says what it says and will never change. Whether you choose to live by it or totally ignore it is up to you. YOU have to answer for the choices you make, not me. And by the way the bible was created way before anyone seriously sought out to prove if the earth was flat or round. (Which they could have saved themselves the trip and just read the bible because it says so in there.)
And yes, maybe we have gotten a bit off track from the videos you posted but let's not forget, you're the one who posted the link of that blog for us to read. I assumed you did that for us to comment on but apparently not.
And yes, I can say his interpretation of the bible is wrong because the bible is not up for personal interpretation. The bible tell us (you too if you would read it) that the book interpets itself, which is why it is so easy to see someone who has not read the whole thing. You do not have to go to church or have a pastor or priest or who ever tell you what it means. All you have to do is read it and the bible interprets itself. And my bible also tells me, "If he speak not according to His word (that would be God) then there is no light in it." That man does not speak according to the whole entire bible so for me to believe that HE KNOWS WHAT GOD REALLY THOUGHT would be crazy.
[many of those who are in fact homophobic tends to be largely conservative Christian]
They are "Christians", they supposedly believe in the bible, the bible says it is wrong, how do you expect them to feel? What do you think they would say? If you think they are wrong well read the bible and decide for yourself what it says.
[75% of people committing hate crimes are under age 30.]
You went from talking about christians to stating this comment so what are you trying to say with this statistic?
Really, you don't have to respond on this one because I can already tell this is going to be one of those "agree to disagree" things.
Every day we live we should make it our duty to learn. Lindsay, today I learn in history, that during the start of the the "Gay Right Act" or movement, "Lindsay" was a major gay rights activist in the early 70's. "I find it rather interesting in your name choice as well." would this be corralation or causation, one can only wonder? If you look into my first response to this post you will see that I did respond to the second video but you might have been to busy running form the truth. We are all sinner's as you say, some might wonder how you take part of the word, but not the whole word, I want attempt to beat a dead horse you never know you might just change.
"They are "Christians", they supposedly believe in the bible, the bible says it is wrong, how do you expect them to feel? What do you think they would say? If you think they are wrong well read the bible and decide for yourself what it says."
Yes Paul, that makes it absolutely okay for them to take a baseball bat to a teenage gay boys face.
"When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging."
And by the way Turner, Lindsay IS my name, not some Gay Rights Activist. But thank you for trying to be clever.
And to you, Ms. Paul, the statistic was to show that most ignorant homophobic people are under the age of where most people truely discover and accept themselves, and are still learning about themselves. But ha, you're welcome to interpret it any way you want.
This is my last comment, so ya'll are free to say whatever you want, because I'm finished. Too much drama in this religion business when all I wanted was a simple, "Why yes, they did a wonderful job in that second video, I agree, it's not my place to judge these people, and it's not my place to do anything but simply tell them how I feel and guide them with my Christian beliefs." Or, "Yes, I think Clinton hasn't swayed from what she stated in the first video." Instead of unsophisticatedly putting in capital letters, "NO GAY MARRAGE."
Lindsay, although you credit me with being clever but I truly can't take the credit, history can however. She was a Mayor and her name was Lindsay don't be mad at me I didn't pick your name or your destiny. You should really read your bible before you try to prove a point with it. Because you don't know or read the bible you need help to keep it in context and to uderstand it. My first thought was to strike back at your attack on me, but I know that you just don't know. Remember the Mr. Brown analogy if you will. If you would like to learn more about the bible I will help you, and like I said I use to be "VERY HOMOPHOBIC." Now I know you just need help just like I needed help from my sins.
Hello Turner!! Ya missed me? Ha.
Lindsay, the comment in your response that irritated me was..
[[Yes Paul, that makes it absolutely okay for them to take a baseball bat to a teenage gay boys face.]]
You knew that wasn't what I meant and from my first comment and previoius posts you know I don't feel that way. And it wasn't even so much the comment as it was that I felt horrible that day from being sick...But I could really care less. Anyway, it said a lot more about you then you tried to make it say about me but I apologize for snapping at you in class though. I really think this cold will be the death of me as horrible as it makes me feel.
ANYWAY..moving on to whole comment!
[[I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.]]
I'm no bible scholar..but I'd sure be happy to help in any way I can!
I have to say like Lamar..from your post I see that you just don't know. Since you kept almost entirely to the book of Leviticus (that would be the "Lev." you qouted from)and in fact did stay in the Old Testament I don't even need to hit every point to argue with you.
The books of the Old Testament have to do with things before Christ came to earth.
[["When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them.]]
After Christ came to this earth his sacificed himself for us so sacrificial laws no longer applied. We no longer have to do those things. That odor your neighbor is smelling must be something else.
[[I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?]]
It was result of JEWISH LAW (man made laws) that people were actually killed for doing this. Though the bible says the wages of sin is death no man can kill another. Just as sure as God gave us his laws to follow, he will be the one to place the judgement on us for keeping them or not. Exodus 20:8-11 if you'd like to see God's laws.
[[Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses]]
The same thing kind of applies here. That was a JEWISH LAW for priests. A man made law that said no man with a defect can serve him. No need for you to worry though. God has no law on this and says anyone can serve Him.
[[A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?]]
I sure can settle this buddy!!! Sin is sin in the eyes of God. One is no worse than the other. Killing a man or telling a lie..in the eyes of God it is the same.
Some of the things you wrote you don't even need a bible to clarify. You could have just used your history book.
[[Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations.
and
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?]]
A bible can even be looked at as a history book in some aspects. Slavery was something done in that day. Waaaaaaaaaay before people were coming from Africa. It is common knowledge that conquered nations were slaves to the ones who conquered them. ANY history book would tell you that. As you may recall slavery has been abolished so I wouldn't say it's a good business to get into. As far as your daughter...I'm not into that whole thing so I can't give you a fair price but I believe they still do things like that in Asia or somewhere. Hope ya get a good deal though!
[[Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?]]
In that time it was a pagon practice for the men to cut their hair and it was not to be done by the children of Israel. Tell your friends it is 2008. They can trim if they'd like. Tell them I said I said it's ok!!
All of this and everything else you wrote could have been answered with common sense and with you reading the bible. I know you were just trying to mock me and Lamar and mock the bible but if ya know how to read then it is just a lost cause. And THANK YOU for reminding us that "God's word is eternal and unchanging" because in times like these when the church and man will try and change laws, it is God's laws we must adhere to.
[[Ms. Paul, the statistic was to show that most ignorant homophobic people are under the age of where most people truely discover and accept themselves, and are still learning about themselves. But ha, you're welcome to interpret it any way you want.]]
Hunny, there are ignorant people all over the world and hate crimes do not consist only of homosexual people but I'm just going to let this one go because you are really trying to ride it high.
I hope I helped some and I would have liked to keep going but I'm just so tired and anyway Lamar offered to help if you wanted to learn more. Which was a very nice thing to do because when you've never read it all this can be a little confusing.
I have to say too that I think I'm finished with this..It is not my job to educate people on a the easiest subject to learn about!
Oh My Goodness!!! That is the longest comment ever!!!! I should get 5,000 extra credit points for that alone! ok ok, 4,999 since I made some typos!
So when all is said and done, why do you continuously look to a bible that has the old book of man made laws. If you are not Jewish, why do all the bibles in church have the Jewish book in it? And why do I catch Christian pasters reading...from the Jewish book? The arguement stated from my comment is purely sarcastic, because the LEV. book that says homosexuality is an abomination is from the OLD book. So ... do we pull from one thing and discard the others because they are man made laws?
Glad you're feelin better, good to see your spark back.
And no thanks, as much as Turner keeps saying over and over again that he'll help. That has absolutely nothing to do with American government, and I would appreciate he would stop asking someone who is clearly uninterested.
That is a very good question but one I can only answer with an opinion. No evidence to back this one up.
I look at the ENTIRE bible because I feel for me to beable to truely understand what I'm reading I have to know the whole story. Including what people did back in the culture of their day.
You're probably tired of seeing this..
2 Timothy 4:16 "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,"
There is something to be taken out of everything in the bible but I am a 21 year old college student..I'm far from the person who should be telling you what it is.
I believe in God. I believe what He said is the truth. I personally do not have a problem with homosexuality so does this make me lesser of a christian? I don't know. I hope not.
All I can tell you is that if there really is something you don't understand that you really wish to know then just like anything else...You got to study it. If what you believe is right and there is no God then what do have to lose? I would think it be worth a little time and effort to see what you could find.
Kristen, I did know you were sick but I'm glad you are feeling better. Your must stay on top of it though, many people are suffering from the flu, AND YES I MISSED YA!!! I geuss you and Lindsay have class together, that's interesting I bet. Your did a great job keeping your responses focussed on Lindsay's rebutal. Linday the whole bible was writtrn by men who were inspired by God, carried along by the holy spirit. The Old Testiment was the written laws & cermonies which all people were to obey. When Jesus Christ, came he came to redeem us from our lives of sin and death from the law. The Old Testiment, give historical events that led up to Jesus, the New Testiment tell us about the events of "Jesus's life, death and resurrection, and it is living and active even todao." Lindsay< like you I, to tried to run from God's prower and purpose for my life but I could not get away. All roads eventually always just lead back to him. I shared some of your same veiws and hung ups, you'll more more than luck to resist God.
