Clinton's New Ad

I am not sure if any of you have seen Clinton's new commercial out. It is a tough one to beat. It is the commercial with all the children sleeping safely in their beds and the announcer says,

“It’s 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep. But there’s a phone in the White House, and it’s ringing. Something’s happened in the world, your vote will decide who answers the call. Whether it’s someone who already knows the world’s leaders, knows the military. Someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world."

“It’s 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?”

I think that this commercial is extremely moving. It covers an aspect that I would never think about. Who do I want answering that phone with a crisis awaiting at the other end? It is scary to think that this really does happen. Who would you want answering that phone?

Deifine Poverty.

Growing up in a small town just outside of Tampa i was encountering "the poverty level" first and second hand. Growing up my parents made very little money. My father was a cook at the local hospitals cafeteria working extra hours to put my mom through nursing school. My brother and I never had much at a young age but i still would not call us "poor". But in fact, with the income my parents made we were in fact considered poor by the government. I think the reason why my family did so well is because of my father. He grew up in Scotland after World War Two and he was what I as well as many others would consider poor and was well aware of how to spend money wisely. I believe the American slang word for this is "cheap skate". I am confused at why America sets the poverty line so high and i believe it leads to unfair statistics and uneven distribution of money. The household income of a family with two children and two adults to be considered poor in America is $20,444 yearly. I don't see how this is considered to be such a low amount of money to live off of. I look at other countries that consider the poor to not have running water, electricity, or even the essential shelter and food and the US is fat from Macdonald's and on welfare. Someone please discuss this issue in further detail with me because i am confused!

Clinton and Obama collides over campaign tactics in Ohio's debate

Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama sparred over negative campaigning. Clinton feels like Obama is quite comfortable at these debates, because she always gets the first question, therefore theirs something fishy going, but she claims not to have a problem with that. As for Sen. Obama he feels like Sen. Clinton's health plan is forcing citizens that don't want health insurance to buy it; they also said that Clinton is being quite inconsistent on NAFTA, which some industrial states blame for blue-collar jobs. Clinton fights back by saying that her health plan would cover everyone and would also be affordable to everyone; also, stated that NAFTA has helped the economy in some parts of the U.S. Obama also stated that Clinton has sent out negative attacks to his campaign.

One Clinton Already Defeated, One To Go

Barrack have a couple of best selling novels, right now his focus is on winning his party’s nomination. During a critical part of the primary elections he and Bill Clinton were nominated for an Oscar Award. Two weeks before the big turn in Barrack’s favor in the primary he beat out Bill Clinton book and he won the Oscar Award. He has defeated the head Clinton and my guess is that he will beat out the other two remaining Clintons on March 4th, 2008. Watch the broadcast and tell if it make you take back any stereo types about Obama? Or does it only support what you already believe about him? Or are you unchanged either way in your opinion?

Obama Elected President Of Harvard Law School

MSNBC aired an auto biography about Obama’s life; it came on at 3AM. It probably didn’t rake in many viewers, at this hour but it did find one eager soul for knowledge, {me}. The story was interesting because it even contradicts my own thoughts about Obama, I thought that he was a little uppity. However come to find out he grow up in the projects of Chicago, he constantly tried to help the community, fed up with the slow process so he decided to go to law school and become a lawyer to have more power to help the poor community. With great effort and hard work he became the “First Black President of Harvard Law School ever.” Yet he did not stop their, he stayed focused on his purpose which was to help ease the plight of the less fortunate. Still today he is a champion for the poor as well as the average American people. Obama, for the people then and now, he made history then by winning a seat in Illinois by over 70 percent. Again he made history by being only the third black senator scene reconstruction. A junior Senator making historic, progress at historical speed and accurately. To my same I have even thought that he was probably a confessed “mixed race” man who would not know his heritage, I WAS GREATLY MISTAKEN. He not only knew who he was but he also cared about were he came from and the lives he could effect. I’ve learned don’t judge a book by its cover even if it is a cover you might like. Any one who really want to know the real Obama, just visit the MSNBC site and watch the show that aired 3AM on February 27th, 2008.

{STOP} Access Denied

The press says that Obama Is the hardest presidential candidate to reach this year. On the flip side McCain is the easiest to get an interview with. Do you ever stop to wonder why that might be? Here are a few suggestions: Obama, don’t have time for frivolous questions because he has to earn America’s approval. Obama spends his time talking with the people he will be representing when he is elected. Obama don’t like to play in the mud with the rest of the Pigs. Obama has no desire to get in bed with the rumor mill also know as the dirty press. Obama’s busy planning to lead a country, while the others are playing in the dirt, throwing it into the eyes of their opponent. Obama thinks somebody should stand up and tell the press enough. Lastly, NO “PRESS = equals= NO STRESS.”

Would The Real Winner Please Stand UP

Many republican politicians would have us believe we {America} have won or is winning the war on terror and in Iraq. Maybe they should have asked the parents who have lost their young men and women in the process, must of the republican politicians don’t have to worry about losing a son our daughter in war yet they have clever ways to keep them off-limits. It is a fact that in war lives will be lost but what if that war was unjust, how then should we react. The history of “Vietnam” should have opened our eyes when it comes to such invasions like Iraq. The republican’s claimed victory early on in the war but years later we are in fact no closer to victory or to a stable Iraq. The democrats must be losers because they didn’t see the need to go to war with out having a clearly defined plan of action and clear obtainable goals for that area. Are to republicans so arrogant as to think that that region of the world that have had conflict and strife for hundreds years, could be easily defeated by the mighty proud Americans. I would have to say that the democrats should stand up on this one; the only thing they have been wrong on as it pertains to this war is “HOW MUCH BLOOD, LIVES AND MONEY IT WOULD COST AMERICA IN THIS WAR?” If it was your blood, your brother’s life and your family’s money, which would you, say the victor was?

Choosing To Be Politically Active On Campus

Often as students we don’t stand up for things that happen to other students unless it directly affects us. Case in point, I didn’t really care about were there enough motorcycle parking places or where they were located. Lately I have had a change of heart because the weather was so great that I decided to ride my motorcycle to school. Our school “TCC” have only two designated areas two park motorcycles, none of which, were even remotely close to the building in which my classes are located. So on February 25th, 2008, I stopped to discuss my opinion with a TCC officer, his response was that it was out of their control and only administration could change the policy. So I went to the Vice President to voice my concerns about this issue with motorcycle parking spaces. He listened to my concerns and suggestions for the many cyclists on campus. His solution was to evaluate the needs and areas of concern, to meet the need of TCC’s motorcyclist. I was proactive because I did not want to be one of the students motorcyclist who broke the parking rules at our school . Because many cyclist are written tickets on a regular bases, I did see a need for the rules to be immediately ratified.

True Thoughts: Bush or Bushwhacked?

Here is the question of the day: Have we been hoodwinked, bamboozled or just down right tricked? I find it hard to believe that George W. Bush gave any speeches before he was elected, if he did he would never be the President today. Every time he talks he articulate worst than my third grader does. No wonder his brother Jeb was such a big advocate for “Leaving Nobody Behind.” His brother G. W. Bush was obviously left behind; I have become afraid for my president to speech in public. His wife was a teacher I just wonder what her students must think when they see or hear one of his public addresses. When he was elected president some one must have disconnected his brain when he was asleep. Thankfully the prank will soon be over with; he could be impeached because they didn’t find him competent to stand trial. Has America been Bushwhacked in the last seven years?

Bill Didn’t Work, Maybe Chelsea Can

At this point in time Hilary Clinton is trying desperately to stay in the race, by winning Ohio and Texas. She can’t seem to figure out if she loves Barrack or if she loathes him, one minute she’s kissing his hand and the next time she is seen kicking him in the ribs. I don’t know you but I think most politicians are some what bi-polar, the more she talks the more I lean toward someone else for President. Bill Clinton caused her to much negative press saying things like “you can get two Clintons for the price of one.” Now Mrs. Clinton opened up the package on her latest Barbie, the Chelsea doll. Doesn’t Mrs. Clinton know that the people she hopes to reach with this new doll aren’t old enough vote at least for 9 more years? Her advisers should tell her the way to reach the young voters is by being real.

What is going on with gas?

Last night on the news, I saw that gas prices has went up $0.80 since last year? Florida is taxing $0.11 on to gas now. I am just wondering why should Florida tax gas that much?

Is it right??

So I was watching one of my favorite shows called The L word and there was an episode that was very intriguing.

On the show, there’s a character that is a captain in the military and is also a lesbian. And the episode I was watching, someone from the military accused that she’s gay and now she have to go through this whole trial for this guys accusation about her sexuality. She goes through the whole court thing for homosexual conduct. I think it is unnecessary for just one accusation on her sexuality, just one and they had to go on trial for it. This case determine whether or not she will stay in the service.

Here’s the clips that shows the court case and what it was like for her, and probably many other homosexuals, to be in that type of situation.

Is it
right for this to happen to homosexuals? I mean what does their sexuality have to do with fighting for our country? It doesn't matter at all if someone is gay or straight. Think about it, gay and straight soldiers are there for probably the same reason and they are taught to do similar tasks. Their sexuality does not affect their skills in battle or whatever situation they will be in. They all will experiences the same emotions, fear and pain. So why does it matter if that person could be homosexual? Why go through this type of trial?

When Bill Clinton passed the "don't ask, don't tell" I felt that was a step to try to accept that there will be homosexuals in the military, and that homosexuality exists. So now lets take the rule about homosexuality and throw it away! I think the military should be honored to have people in general that would volunteer to join their service.

How do you feel about it? Should it matter if a person is homosexual or not to be in the military service?

Hope for Federal Funds

In THIS article, Governors are pushing for a second stimulus package to be passed allowing money to be used to repair roads, water ways and bridges in the different states. President Bush has already signed the initial stimulus package and tax payers can look forward to a $600 check in about May. I believe that a second stimulus package is a good idea. Each state has their own problems that need to be taken care of. If the second package is signed it would be nice if some of the dirt roads in Jackson County finally get paved. My only concern is would this package be too strenuous on the national budget? Cuts are already being made that in my opinion, need more support. For example the cut to medicade. Maybe it is time for some one to take a good look at how insurance is set up in our country and possibly come up with some revisions.

Nader is Back Again!

So I turn on the news this morning and I hear that Ralph Nader has announced that he will be running for president as a third-party candidate . . . again! Seriously what is his problem? He's like 73, no one really liked him last time he ran so what good could possibly come out of him running again?

What do you guys think?

Stupid People Are The Most Dangerous People On Earth!

Are you in perfect health?? If not, I wouldn't suggest flying with American Airlines!!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080225/ap_on_re_us/flight_death;_ylt=AmhclXLxRgslasSr9PdikhJH2ocA

In the above story Carine Desir, a passenger on an American Airlines flight, experienced difficulty breathing. When she asked the flight attendant for oxygen she was denied it. Twice. (I wonder if someone who had the luxury of flying first class would have been denied their request for oxygen..probably not.)

When the attendant finally tried to administer oxygen from a portable tank and mask, the tank was empty. When doctors and nurses who were aboard this flight tried to administer oxygen from a second tank, they found that one too was empty. Two oxygen tanks on board and they are both empty??? Is there not some sort of law about this type of thing?? OSHA or something should be on this!!

After a nurse was unsuccessful with CPR, a "box," possibly a defibrillator, also was applied but didn't function effectively. You've got to be kidding me?? With all the money they saved on not refilling the oxygen tanks you would have thought they could get a defibrillator that worked!!

NEEDLESS to say, Desir (who was only 44), was pronounced dead by one of the doctors on board.

As if terrorist hijackings and freak accident plane crashes didn't scare me enough.

This family will definetly be getting paid!!

Blogs and Blogging

A couple of people complained about all the arguing on the blogs. What you don't seem to understand is arguing is what blogs are all about. The fights here are nothing compared to what goes on on blogs where people are allowed to be anonymous or where people don't get in trouble for going too far. This blog and the arguments here are very, very mild for the blogging world. If you don't like arguments about politics and religion, then blogs aren't the place for you...

To lighten it up a bit, here's a little cartoon:

Oh yeah, and when I get caught up on various things, I'll be back to argue a little bit more, too.

Popularity Contest

I was watching Jay Leno last night, something that I rarely do, and he had Bill O'Riley on his show. I'm not really a huge fan of O'Riley actually to be quite honest I think he needs to just shut up sometimes but I did agree with him on one thing. He said that this presidential election has turned into a popularity contest and he's right. He said both Obama and Hillary have pretty much the same views and political platforms and I even checked it out myself and there's not that much difference between the two. American are left to decide whether they want the young "next best thing" or the "old dog who's learned a few new tricks." What do you guys think?

Another, more eloquent perspective on Obama

Pasted from a Peggy Noonan Op Ed article in the Wallstreet Journal. Maybe it isn't relative to you what mrs. Obama makes, or that mr. Obama seems to be full of empty yet eloquent rhetoric, but it clearly matters to some. Please read below:

Are the Obamas, at bottom, snobs? Do they understand America? Are they of it? Did anyone at their Ivy League universities school them in why one should love America? Do they confuse patriotism with nationalism, or nativism? Are they more inspired by abstractions like "international justice" than by old visions of America as the city on a hill, which is how John Winthrop saw it, and Ronald Reagan and JFK spoke of it?
Have they been, throughout their adulthood, so pampered and praised--so raised in the liberal cocoon--that they are essentially unaware of what and how normal Americans think? And are they, in this, like those cosseted yuppies, the Clintons?
Why is all this actually not a distraction but a real issue? Because Americans have common sense and are bottom line. They think like this. If the president and his first lady are not loyal first to America and its interests, who will be? The president of France? But it's his job to love France, and protect its interests. If America's leaders don't love America tenderly, who will?
And there is a context. So many Americans right now fear they are losing their country, that the old America is slipping away and being replaced by something worse, something formless and hollowed out. They can see we are giving up our sovereignty, that our leaders will not control our borders, that we don't teach the young the old-fashioned love of America, that the government has taken to itself such power, and made things so complex, and at the end of the day when they count up sales tax, property tax, state tax, federal tax they are paying a lot of money to lose the place they loved.
And if you feel you're losing America, you really don't want a couple in the White House whose rope of affection to the country seems lightly held, casual, provisional. America is backing Barack at the moment, so America is good. When it becomes angry with President Barack, will that mean America is bad?
* * *
Michelle Obama seems keenly aware of her struggles, of what it took to rise so high as a black woman in a white country. Fair enough. But I have wondered if it is hard for young African-Americans of her generation, having been drilled in America's sad racial history, having been told about it every day of their lives, to fully apprehend the struggles of others. I wonder if she knows that some people look at her and think "Man, she got it all." Intelligent, strong, tall, beautiful, Princeton, Harvard, black at a time when America was trying to make up for its sins and be helpful, and from a working-class family with two functioning parents who made sure she got to school.
That's the great divide in modern America, whether or not you had a functioning family, and she apparently came from the privileged part of that divide. A lot of white working-class Americans didn't come up with those things. Some of them were raised by a TV and a microwave and love our country anyway, every day.
Does Mrs. Obama know this? I don't know. If she does, love and gratitude for the place that tries to give everyone an equal shot would seem to be in order.

Barack Hussein Obama's ties to Socializm.

My brother sent me this today, not sure where he got it from. I am not stating any opinion and am sick of arguing just wanted to post it on here so i can see what anyone else has to say.

1. Obama himself attended socialist conferences in the 1980's and lectured his family after attending these conferences.

"He went to socialist conferences at Cooper Union and African cultural fairs in Brooklyn and started lecturing his relatives until they worried he'd become "one of those freaks you see on the streets around here." "

Source: New York Daily News:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2007...se_stuns_.html

2. Obama attended meetings with the "Chicago Democratic Socialists of America"

From their website: "Our mission is to establish democratic socialism as a political force in the United States and around the world by training and mobilizing socialist activists to participate in a vibrant and diverse socialist organization at both the local and the national level."

In 1996 Barack Obama attended one of their meetings:

"Over three hundred people attended the first of two Town Meetings on Economic Insecurity on February 25 in Ida Noyes Hall at the University of Chicago. Entitled "Employment and Survival in Urban America", the meeting was sponsored by the UofC DSA Youth Section, Chicago DSA and University Democrats. The panelists were Toni Preckwinkle, Alderman of Chicago's 4th Ward; Barack Obama, candidate for the 13th Illinois Senate District; Professor William Julius Wilson, Center for the Study of Urban Inequality at the University of Chicago; Professor Michael Dawson, University of Chicago; and Professor Joseph Schwartz, Temple University and a member of DSA's National Political Committee."

"A true welfare system would provide for medical care, child care and job training. While Barack Obama did not use this term, it sounded very much like the "social wage" approach used by many social democratic labor parties. "

4. Obama Speaks at Socialist Leader Saul Mendelson's Funderal

From the Chicago DSA Website: "Saul Mendelson - You joined the Socialist movement at the age of 18. You chaired the Socialist Club at the University of Chicago. You taught and inspired students at DuSable High School. You fought in the civil rights struggles with the NAACP, with CORE, and with the Negro American Labor Council. You have held fast to your belief in democratic socialism."

"At the memorial service held at the 1st Unitarian Church on South Woodlawn, speaker after speaker recounted Saul's contributions. The service was ably MC'd by a retired colleague, Bob Clark. I spoke first and was followed by Saul's friend Deborah Meier, a MacArthur Genius Grant recipient who is now starting a new school in Boston. Amy Isaacs, National Director of the ADA, spoke of what Saul had meant on foreign affairs to the ADA. Other speakers included Senator Carol Moseley Braun, Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, State Senator Barak Obama, Illinois House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie and a good friend from New York, Myra Russell. The concluding remarks were made by an old friend, Harriet Lefley, who is now Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami Medical School."

6. Obama Campaign Worker Seen With Communist Cuba Flag Depicting Marxist Che Guevara on it. Other Obama supporters "Che" Sympathizers

For those of you who don't know who Che Guervara is:

"Guevara later served as Minister of Industries, in which post he helped formulate Cuban socialism"
"Guevara played a key role in bringing to Cuba the Soviet nuclear-armed ballistic missiles that precipitated the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962. During an interview with the British newspaper Daily Worker some weeks later, he stated that, if the missiles had been under Cuban control, they would have fired them against major U.S. cities."

8. Obama's mother attended classes in high school where there was a member of the Communist party on the school board. 2 teachers that highly influenced her life taught about Communism and Marxism.

"In 1955, the chairman of the Mercer Island school board, John Stenhouse, testified before the House Un-American Activities Subcommittee that he had been a member of the Communist Party.
At Mercer High School, two teachers -- Val Foubert and Jim Wichterman -- generated regular parental thunderstorms"
""I had them read 'The Communist Manifesto,' and the parents went nuts," said Wichterman"
"For Stanley Ann, the teachings of Foubert and Wichterman provided an intellectual stimulant"

"Obama called his mother "the dominant figure in my formative years. . . . The values she taught me continue to be my touchstone when it comes to how I go about the world of politics."

What Is Hillary trying to prove?

Hillary said, "I do think that words are important and words matter," Clinton said at a debate at the University of Texas. "But actions speak louder than words."

When Hillary made this comment and one above it, what exactly is she trying to say about Obama? Me personally, I maybe wrong, but I think that in a way she is trying to call him illiterate. I am not trying to sound biased, but thats what I think.

IS MCCAIN CHEATING OR NOT?

I just have one question: Is McCain cheating on his wife or not? The New York Times said that he called them and asked them not to run the story, but he said that he called them asking them to stop the people from lying? Who is telling the truth, and what is going on? Will this effect his campaign or not?

Republican special: “Two Fish for the price of one”

If John McCain is a bottom dwelling flounder, but good eating fish. What kind of fish would mitt Romney be? Maybe he will be a Barracuda. Romney strikes his opponent quickly with his razor sharp teeth, most often killing or fatally wounding his prey on the first blow. They two are good eating types of fih. Maybe Obama’s first inaugural meal should be an assortment of fish, he should blacken some flounder and broil some barracuda fillets. I can just see the new York post saying: "Republicans are some good fish to fry!!"

Fish In The House: McCain

Some where on the post I seem to remember someone posting about Obama craw fishing. McCain has great character and has served the country for a decade. He just forgets his character at home on many occasions. While watching news coverage of the electoral process, I saw McCain, carrying on about Obama signing a form about using public money to campaign. Then I read this article, take a look; Republican nominee needs to assure the commission that he did not use the promise of public money to help secure a $4 million line of credit he obtained in November.
Maybe McCain just likes Fish, if so I wonder if his favorite type is Flounder. Being that he loves to flop aground like a Flounder, case in point:”McCain, a longtime advocate of stricter limits on money in politics, was one of the few leading presidential candidates to seek FEC certification for public money during the primaries. The FEC determined that he was entitled to at least $5.8 million. But McCain did not obtain the money, and he notified the FEC earlier this month that he would bypass the system, freeing him from its spending limits.”
I’m really glad McCain’s, character is based off of his past service to his country and not his “Lip Service” about other candidates. I can just see him saying “look at me I’m so great”, Oops I maid a boo boo: At issue is the fine print in the loan agreement between McCain and Fidelity & Trust Bank. McCain secured the loan using his list of contributors, his promise to use that list to raise money to pay off the loan and by taking out a life insurance policy.

Good news McCain, I know how to cook some Fish and I like my Flounders big just like McCain, see we do have something in common.

Imagine the Headline Saying “McCain Could Be My Baby’s Daddy”

Perhaps McCain should focus more on the issues at hand and “not the issues in hand.” Lobbyists usually pay people to champion their cause. Could it possibly be that McCain was trying to pay to have his cause championed? At any rate it sounds like the good old politics that we are use to in Washington. I think Obama and the American Public is right for saying: Time For Change, Let Overhaul “The Trash House” and make really make it into “The White House” symbolically speaking of course. This Ad message was Approved By Veterans With Real Character.

McCain with Romney Support

I actually thought that he Republican votes would be spilt between McCain and Romney. Once Romney drooped out of the race and threw his support behind McCain, I knew who would end up on the ballot for the Republicans. Do you think that since Romney stepped down that its was all just a ploy from the begining? Do you think that McCain will win this election? If he runs again that Romney will run against him,or be his running mate? I think with Romney backing McCain that will give the Democrats a pretty good fight till the finish.

African Americans and Voting

African Americans were giving the right to vote legally in 1870. The right was not enforce due to slavery and the unjustice laws for Blacks during this time period. In the 1960s Blacks finally were able to vote and exercise their legal right. It seems to me that most Blacks are very supportive of Obama and will actually be excercising their right to vote in larger numbers this year. Do you think it's because Obama is black or because Blacks are just ready for a real change. Do you believe that Obama is the man to make that change for black people or just for the Democrats?

Obama Crawfishing over money and faith...how un-savior like!

Obama agreed in writing that if nominated he would use public money to run for president...as did Senator McCain. Now that Obamas nomination seems likely he is suggesting that he and McCain need to talk about this issue...apparently in light of all of the money Obama is accepting and being promised from private sources. What's to discuss? What is it about giving your word, even putting it in writing with a signature that Obama doesn't understand? Guess now that Obama has the Teamsters offering money (can you say "organized crime"?...how about "blood money"?... I should probably shut up or I may "sleep with the fishes"!), as well as numerous other special interest groups, his character (or lack thereof) is strained to the breaking point, one might even say has snapped, like a rotten twig. Not the first time Obama has flaked out on his committments. He swore allegiance to Islam...of course that was before he realized that he wanted a career in politics where being a Muslim could pose problems. No problem for a man of Obamas character...he merely converted to Christianity. One might speculate that Obama is in fact shameless...will say and or do anything to get to the top. The big changes he is promising are unsubstantiated by any sort of reasonable or even remotely viable plan...backed up by nothing more than his eloquent manner of speaking. What we do know of his plans seem likely to further destabilize the middle east...probably result in genocide in Iraq, $10.00 plus per gallon fuel for American citizens once Iran and China step in to fill the void, not to mention the betrayal of the trust of all of our middle-eastern allies. Wonder how many freshly laundered Yen have found their way into the Obama coffers? Do you suppose their might be some Taliban or Al-Quaeda money backing Obama's play as well? Said groups certainly must be excited about the prospect of a Muslim President of the United States...oh yeah, Obama calls himself a Christian now...(wink wink). As a veteran of the Gulf War Era I am probably not the most objective person in the world when it comes to this issue, but I think Obama is lieing about his faith, just as he was lieing about how he would fund his presidential campaign, and is almost certainly lieing about how he can change the world for the better (maybe he actually is arrogant enough to believe he can...most of the really good liars tend to believe their lies). I suspect that our enemies are laughing incredulosly (when they are not praying fervently for the success of their Muslim brother's presidential bid) at how incredibly stupid Americans really are. Oh well, at least Obama's snotty wife is proud.... did you know she was a healthcare executive approaching a quarter million in annual salary plus perks before she quit to join her attorney husbands campaign? I for one am overwhelmed by the sacrifice she has made to serve her country...hope she didn't have to give back the Mercedes.

REPUBLICAN:”THE PARTY OF THE ANCIENT SENIORS”

George H. W. Bush endorses McCain for Republican Party nominee. After reading this article it made me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I can just see McCain and George H.W. Bush at the Big Texas Ranch playing shuffle broad over a hot cup of milk, talking about the “Good Old Days.” Well folks I don’t know about you but, we don’t need a president whose number one concern is not “who he would call to help him up if he slips and fall in the White House.” In Florida we have a place for McCain and it’s not the “Oval Office”, we can do better than that for a Veteran: “It is the Sunny Land Retirement Home.” Were he can play all the shuffle broad he could stand and he can put the whole Bush family on his visiting list. Is it just me or do anyone else feels like McCain, think the young people in America, don’t have a brain or that they can’t think for themselves?

Michelle Obama not proud of US?

“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “because it feels like hope is making a comeback.”

Are you not proud of America for winning the cold war, and the war on communism?
Not proud of America defending and instilling democracy around the world?
That we lead in science and technology research?
Or that we help fund the rebuilding of nations who are hit with dreadful natural disasters?
I can keep going... trust me.

This kinda gets on my nerves a bit. Last night i had a conversation with my brother about a few instances where i felt that people take this wonderful country for granted. Here is a prime example. I also do not like people calling Obama the "savior of America". I, for one happen to love this country and feel it is the greatest country in the world. Though it could use some improvement, the statement that Obama could be the "savior" of the US is absurd. I know that maybe his wife might have misspoken because it happens, but that does not make up for the millions of people who truly take this great nation for granted.

Largest Meat Recall in US History

The USDA ordered the largest meat recall ever - 143 million pounds of frozen and raw beef - two years worth of Hallmark/Westland meatpacking productions. The California meat packer's lack of prevention of ailing animals from entering the food supply warranted the recall, and was more of a "precautionary measure" utilized by the USDA to reinforce guidelines for animal regulations. The USDA ensures the American public that the meat supply is safe. The recall came three weeks after video footage of a Hallmark/Westland worker committing "egregious violations" against a "downer" - sick, immobile bovine, leaked on to the internet. Is the recall monumental or is it a mere slap on the wrist in the spectrum of safe meat production in America? Should there be a higher quantity and quality of food safety regulations, especially for school lunch programs, or is the recall evidence of the USDA competently doing it's job?

As a safety precaution, I can offer this fact: ground turkey is a lean and delicious alternative to beef!

Saying What People Want To Hear

Saying what Americans want to hear is a large tactic used in order for candidates to gain votes at the polls. Saying that you believe in, for example, equal freedom of speech for all and then disallowing an ex-rapist or a former Nazi to make a public speech is a prime example. Another would be a candidate agreeing in equal civil rights for all, then avoiding the subject, or becoming tight-lipped when a gay couple asks the candidate if they agree they should be allowed to marry.

I have two examples that I find extremely interesting, and would love to share with you all. The first one is from the CNN youtube.com democratic debate.

Democratic Debate: Gay & Lesbian Rights

From this video, to present day, have these candidates (ex. Clinton, Edwards) kept their word, or have they since then, changed their answers?

The second video is from a gay television show called Queer As Folk, which also gives a realistic and wonderful example of tension between government and state official’s proposals and what really happens when they are elected.

Season 3 - Episode 11

I love this show very much, and this clip was very intriguing to me. Is this video accurate in portraying realistic tensions between officials and injustice?

The Vital Idjit Vote

The guys at Onion News Network really hit the nail on the head with this video. Now I realize that the idjit vote is the vote of the masses. It makes me think about our forefathers being afraid that our government would be plagued by the "passions of the masses", people that they thought were too ill-informed to vote.

here it is

Ruled by fear...

Ever read Machiavellis treatise "The Prince"? In a nutshell, it is a how to manual describing how to best control the masses, which Machiavelli considered little more than cattle. A central theme with Machiavelli is the notion that the masses are much more manageable once fear has been struck into their hearts. Back in the day, a ruler was free to instill fear through any number of means. Many countries still employ Machiavellian techniques to control their cattle. Americans enjoy civil liberties that would seem to preclude, or at least make it difficult to instill fear through traditional methods...(torture, military oppression, etc.). News stories about how Americans are becoming unsafe due to our congress being unwilling to permanently grant the state the right to casually monitor our telephone calls without warrants make me wonder if we havent entered a period of neo-Machiavellian rule. So long as we are afraid of "bad guys", arent we all more manageable? Many of us are actually grateful to our government for stripping civil liberties that our forefathers fought and died to protect because it makes us "feel safe" in these scary times. If our government is really so worried about the risk of terrorist attacks, have you wondered why they continue to refuse to secure our borders? US citizens get practically strip searched in airports, but anyone can waltz back and forth across the canadian border at will...so long as you dont mind crossing after regular business hours you wont even see a guard posted on many roads. No one even knows how many people stream back and forth across our borders every year. Scary times indeed...somehow the Patriot Act doesnt make me feel much better!

Possible Destruction, All For Political Corruption

1) Are we being destroyed as a country because of our on desirers for freedom?
A. Is the over pursuit of liberty as Americans destroying our protection?
B. Are the ideas of “A Free America” controlling us or are controlling it?
C. Are the laws written to protect the American people or to control the American people?
D. Are the freedoms we desire complex, or are they simplistic?
E. As America what price aren’t we will to pay for freedom?

2) Or are we being destroyed because of our own political corruption?
A. Do the America people have the true power, or do the governments have the true power?
B. Do our governments serve us or do we serve them?
C. Does the legislative branch make laws for the people or against the people?
D. Are politicians self serving or serving the American public?
E. Are the influxes of big business “Corrupting Politics” or are politicians “Corrupting Big Business?”

We are being destroyed! Who then “ Is The Real Enemy”, Amera-rist or Terrorist ?
Reality check:
Are we really worried about someone destroying America, or are we really scared that in reality America, is on a course of “Self-destruction?” You be the judge which is it?
* AMERA-RIST was made up to mean: American Terrorist, destruction by our people, self destruction.*

Speaking of Change....

This video is all about change. Spare change. It is by a very cool band called "Built to Spill". It makes me think that we are really choosing the lesser of two evils. Not that I'm calling Obama evil, he's got my vote. There is a ton of propaganda out there (understatement of the hour) and I think this is pretty funny.

Big Brother is Listening?

Perhaps the worst thing to come out of the terrorist attacks of 9-11 was the Patriot Act which our public servants signed into law in a knee jerk fashion that in retrospect seems a betrayal of public trust. Many legislators admitted after the fact that they didnt even read it! What are we paying them to do? Now we all must live with the fact that every nuance of our lives can be legally monitored in the interest of national security. In truth, the only people who should be really upset about wiretapping are "bad guys". However, I feel a cold chill in the air. We must all be aware that every law put on the books opens the door for potential abuse. How many times have civil rights been violated by authorities who were following the letter of the law? Some of the "bad guys" are in law enforcement...some of them are judges. One can twist and corrupt the spirit of a law without ever violating the letter of said law. Just as politicians and journalists spin information to support their particular agenda, those who are entrusted to uphold the law can spin legislation to support their actions. I am, and always have been a law abiding citizen. I am a Veteran, and am as patriotic as anybody I know. I am on board with this new social contract that we are calling the Patriot Act. Nevertheless, I think that we have taken a major step towards Orwellianism, and am keenly aware that with the increased power the state now has to "protect us" comes an incredible potential for abuse.

The Ultimate Love/Hate Relationship!

Just a few short weeks ago many people had their eyes glued to the Republican Party’s Public Debate. I for one watched it intently; it quickly became very obvious that stage was set for a Mitt Roomney and John McCain’s, good old showdown. Like many of the quickest guns of the “Old Wild West”, John McCain and Mitt Roomney came out looking down the barrel of each others gun. Soon after, the shots began to ring out, no innocent bystanders were hurt as a matter of fact they the bystanders {Mike Huckabee & Ron Paul}, just watched the “Good Old Fashion Showdown” for the most part. I can only wonder if many other Americans saw it as I did, that being their sharp deadly accurate projectiles aimed at each other was doing immense amounts of damage. During the debate the most effective person and most skilled marksman shooter was Mitt Roomney. He expressed his opinion clearly that “John McCain was not the man who America thinks he is and that he was not the best man for the job of running this country.” Mitt Roomney also stated the John McCain would not be good for our economy. Roomney also took the time to point out all the many ways and times John McCain has changed his votes on Quote: Many conservative issues during his time in politics. Roomney vowed to never quit the race for White House because he is the best candidate for the job Republican or Democrat. Now humor me if you will, fast forward several States Primary’s and a few short weeks later. Mitt Roomney now has had a couple of changes of his heart obviously.
The first major change was that the man who said that he would stay the course, quickly bowed out after only a few primary defeats, yet the original two bystanders that stood only in the shadows of this “Industrious and Economic Icon”, are still fighting for their political party’s support at all cost. Roomney, a self made enormous economic machine had his second change of heart as of February 14th, 2008. Now isn’t that sweet on Valentines Day of all times he decides to pledge his {Love for his party, Loyalty of his supporters and his unwavering support to his colleague}. Now who would have ever thought that, after all of the name calling, finger pointing, repeated character assignations and an extremely verbal gun fight showdown that: Now he endorses, John McCain? It would have been more foreseeable for “Fidel Castor and George W. Bush to become allies.” Obviously Mitt Roomney is a great pol -LIE- tican, willing and able to turn on an off all feeling, emotions and truth when it comes to putting his political party back in power in the White House. That’s just the type of politician I don’t want, not now, not ever: When will they learn it’s not about the party it is about the people! See through the political party nonsense put an end to the “Love/Hate Relationships” of Washington.

Sex Sales Even in Politics

While on the computer, just the other day will going on “you Tube” for my history class to look up a video. I came across the “I have a crush on Obama video.” One can only imagine the effectiveness of the message of this video to the younger generation. Especially the effect the video had on reaching young male voters. I, am amazed at how talented and how creative young people are! The tone still rings in my head: Who much of an impact or influences do you think this one video had one the young voters? Who do you think his wife felt after watching this video? If you have not seen it yet, then I will tell you;"it is a must see.”

Fourth School Shooting in Seven Days!!

(I'm not looking for credit on this..I'm just trying to reach the kids!)

Listen you all. If you got something on your mind, on ya chest..please go talk to somebody about it! Don't bring all that to Chipola! There are people out there you can talk to..at your school..friends..family! I'm cool with everybody! I love all yall!! If you need someone to talk I will listen!!!!!

How do you feel about this? I'm scared to go to school! I'm fat too so you know I can't run as fast as some of you!! It's all on the news..some other crazy is going to see it and think, "That's a good idea!! What a way to send a message!" I don't think they should show as much of this on tv as they do. Four in one week?!?!!? I'd be willing to bet my life that atleast one of them got their idea from seeing one of the others!

Do our schools need more security?!? Do I need to wear my vest to class?!? All I know is no more cute shoes to school. Nikes from now on!!

Socialized Healthcare

As many of you have been following, "Hillarycare" or whatever it is called might come into effect next year. Obama's health care policy is very similar to Mrs. Clinton's and will end up the same, socialized. I am not sure if the rest of you have grasped the concept of what this will mean. If you know anyone living in western Europe or Canada please ask them how they feel. I have an uncle who is in his 40's, lives in Scotland and within the last 5 years been battling the aftermath of a major stroke. When he needs to see a doctor he gets put on a waiting list, waiting sometimes up to 6 months to see a doctor. It is the same with dental. Imagine having a broken arm and having to wait to go see a doctor, or a tooth ache and having to wait.

If this goes though there is no turning back. You cannot reverse something like this once it has been passed. Picture it this way... Would you want government bureau's controlling health care? the same people who run the god awful DMV? You may say health insurance is too expensive or inconvenient. If the government takes away health insurance and runs a publicly funded healthcare program we are all in deep deep trouble. Imagine if cell phones and cell services were controlled by a government bureau, do you think you would have your sidekick 3's and your blackberry smart phones? Heck no, you would have some 1990 brick looking phone with a huge antenna on it, limited features and terrible service. The reason why is because the government has no competitors, no sprint, no AT&T, no one making new technology and lower prices to have the edge on the competitor. Is this the way you want your healthcare? One of the most important things in your life controlled by a bureau with no competition?

The Heavyweight Championship

After watching the television on CNN, I came to a conclusion that the election for the presidency will be John McCain vs Barack Obama. This bout will be of intelegence and not brut force. For some reason Mr. Clinton was speaking to a group trying to help Mrs. Clinton. He said "when she was in law school most students just want to leave and start their lives, but Hillary stayed another year to help the local hospital for abused children with cigarette burns. Now in every state cases in this nature does not arise because of Hillary." Would anybody tell me why Mr. Clinton jabbed his nose into her business as if she already lost!

Democrats' time to shine

Is it me or is the republican party more like a disfunctional family? In addition, Huckabee is losing a substantial amount of votes which to me means that John McCain is the only republican left in the presidential race. Due to the recent media coverage concerning John McCain, I have been convinced that he shouldn't be our future president because just like Bush, i do question his ability to keep the "people" loyal to him.

Are they serious?

Congress has been said to delay a requirement that passengers coming from Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean show their passports at the Us land or sea ports. If president Bush decides to sign this Bill, these passengers will not have to show their passports until at least June 2009. It will actually be one of the worst moves that a president could make. I don't care if these countries may be allies of the USA. It is never safe! Our best friends can be our worst enemies, right?!

Oprah's Input

Oprah is helping Obama in this presidential election; both Obama and Oprah are getting criticized for their unusual team work in this election. Is it fair? who cares! Is Obama getting extra votes thanks to Oprah's input? Well duh, of course he is because Oprah has such a loyal audience that they would do just about anything she says; please don't take this literally. I am tired of hearing all these negative comments about Obama concerning Oprah's political input in the 2008 election. I believe that you should be able to use what ever legal resources available in order to win an election; that includes wealthy and socially powerful figures such as Oprah.

Why is voting such a complicated thing?

I don't like the whole idea of delegates and super delegates, do you? why is it that the delegates' votes count more than the people's votes. It is as if the people have no real say in who becomes the next president. We, the people, should be the ones shaping our children's futures based on electing our desired officials. As we saw in the last presidential election, that same issue showed its presence to americans. What do you think about the system used to elect our presidents?

Cuban Possibilities

I do understand that Cubans were once in much greater turmoil in their homeland, But why do they still get a free pass to USA? If you are not aware, I believe that the USA has some type of agreement with Cuba which allows cubans to step on US lands and not have to be deported. Yet there are other "refugees" coming to the USA that constantly get deported from the US. I didn't know that Cuba was our fifty first state!

Take Their Federal and State Funding!

Take it all!!

Have any of you been following the situation with the Marine Recruiters in Berkley??

From what I've been hearing on the news people in Berkley California have been protosting the Marine Recruiters being there trying to get young people to join. To the point of calling them "Uninvited and unwelcome intruders." I saw vidoes that almost made it seem riot like. People burning bicycles and stuff. (Why you would burn a bicycle I have no idea but whatever.)

I understand if you don't support the war but that's crazy! Men and women of our country are over there fighting..some have lost thier lives and this is how these people act? If they weren't over there I'm sure things would be alot worse than what they are now. The reason they can protest like that is because of the first amendment. You wouldn't have that right if people didn't fight for you to have it!

After the city wrote a letter to the Armed Forces about these "unwelcome intruders" the government supposely threatened to cut off federal and state funding because of how they were treating these Marines. I say take it all!!!

Democrats aren't going to stop this war

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/18349197/the_chicken_doves

Above is a link to to an article on the Democrats failure to end the war in Iraq, and it's pretty interesting. It amazes me how the Democrats have portrayed themselves as opposed to the war, and the other crimes of the past few years - wiretapping, torture, etc. - while doing nothing to change or oppose these things. Yet they'll probably win the next election as the "change."
Everyone looks back at Clinton as some sort of golden boy, when in fact he slashed welfare and bombed both Iraq and Kosovo. Both parties subscribe to the same agenda of globalization and imperialism, with the Democrats simply presenting a more moderate version. If progressive Americans continue to vote for them, ignoring the possiblities other parties present, things will remain very much the same, if they don't get worse.

Can America Really Get Better?

Every politican are saying what they know Americans want to hear. Let's take gas prices for example is it going to ever get any lower. And lets get to some deeper issues. When we are all older and ready to retire are we going to have money to retire with? Taxes are another issue. We work all these crazy long hours and when we get our pay checks taxes have been taken almost half of what you earned.

Bush Playing Party Politics With Race Card

What does President Bush, really think of African Americans? I really think that he thinks' that we are idot's. Case in point as much racial stuff that was said and done in the in the past months, yet our president wants to play politics. Jena Louisiana, Columbia University, New York and the United States Coast Guard Acdamy and many others, all these things were a racial hot spot. Our president didn't think it note worthy to make mention of the ever increasing hate crimes, by displaying a "Horrific Remminder Of The African Americans Slaves Brutally Vicious Past At The Hands Of Many Whites", Instead of him addressing these issues when they are happening, he would rather insult our inteligence by saying something about it now. President Bush decides to speak up on this issue during Black History Month none the less. His timing is perfect for his parties political agenda but not for the young black men of "Jena Six." They felted that they had to protect themselves because the President and the Legislative body fell to do so. Young black kids are expected to go to schools, stores and many other public places, without being effected or angered by the presence of a "hang man noose." This was after all the very same Demoralizing Tool used to Lynch Many of Our Relatives." President Bush really need to Wise Up and We need to Rise Up, against Any an All Injustices.

Just A Few Things I Like About Obama

He is young and full of life.
He is committed to change.
He embraces the younger part of America.
He inspires people to action.
He runs his campaign with power and strenght.
He adds a fresh perspective to politics.
He plays fair while still being in the political arena.
He is a role model for young black men.
He is a family man, with family values.
He is approachaible by the people he represents.
He is going to be the first black president.
He is honest unlike most politicans.
Most of all he is simply unshakeable.
To all of you hopeful hang on Obama's coming soon.

Have You Forgotten by Darryl Worley

Mr. Quinnel played this song in class last week. Mr Worley seems that he is all for protecting America and its citizens. I agree that we should always protect our homeland first. I rememberI was in 9th grade when tradgey struck America. I remember watching the planes crashed into the buildings. I remember seeing people jumped out of building to save their own lives. As I sat at my desk and cried for the Americans we had just lost. I wonder what went on in their mind that morning and what were those Americans last thought. I wanted someone to pay for the pain that America had endured. I was only 14 than. My first gut reaction was to punish whoever was responsible. I rememeber seeing soldiers dying and crying for America's lost once again. Thats when I realize that an eye for an eye isn't the mature way to handle things. I feel that pure emotion is what drove Mr. Worley write his song. I agree that he has a right to be angry. I just do not believe that acting on pure emotion is a logical thing to do.

Just Imagine seeing what “Tom Lantos” Lived Through

History is passed on in most cases through a secondary source. In most cases one can only imagine, what it is like to have a primary source on significant political and historical events. Mr. Lantos was just that, he lived through the worst time imaginable for the Jewish people. When people talk about the “Holocaust” it angers and stirs the Jewish people’s emotions, just like talking about that of “Slavery” for African Americans. Many African American people of today however didn’t have a primary source of information into the many atrocities that “white men” committed on the “Black American Slave”. This was not the case for the Jewish people however; Many Jewish communities were very social and close knit group. Imagine Mr. Lantos telling his stories of everyday life in a “Nazi Concentration Camp.” Try to imagine his personal thoughts about “Adolph Hitler”, who again he experienced for himself first hand! Imagine the loss of love ones he had to experience and endure! Imagine for a moment escaping with your life, when you personally know so many who were not so fortunate to do so. Imagine being freed, only to come to America as a lonely Immigrant in a very strange place during a great depression! How would you respond? Would you become bitter? Would you just live in self-pity until you die? Would you become a murderous minus to society? Would you become a drunkard or a drug user? Not many would have had the strength, courage and heart to do what “Mr. Tom Lantos” did. He became proactive in pioneering the plight of human rights! He did not just become reactive to his desperate circumstances! What Mr. Lantos did politically, for human rights in this country: It is an incumbent charge to all of us as Americans. We need to stand up for our rights and for the rights of the less fortunate, also. Mr. Lantos lived a life of positive, passionate and political influence: What kind of life will “Generation X” live? If you are Young it is your time, you future; "so take hold of your chance to influence it.

Is it really as they Say?

It is now said by some very well known radio and television personalities that were are in the same boat as Russian was during the Reagan times in office. I forget his name but I know some things about him, it’s not Rush Limbaugh but he has the same style while on the air. He also took up some of Mr. Limbaugh’s favorite pastimes that being “drugs” of course. He is in his mid forties he has grayish blonde hair, married with children and his program usually comes on channel 40, I think. He is definitely a conservative, he usually as of late any how spend most of his time attacking Hilary Clinton and Mr. Obama. All of this was mentioned to give some background on the speaker and his reasoning for his statement that he made in the evening on February 11, 2008. He suggested that Reagan didn’t bring an end to the “Cold War” yet it was that Russia it self imploded, with a little help from America at that time. He took the time to support his argument. He pointed out some similar things that Russia then and America now have in common. The biggest and most powerful part was when he said that the end to the Cold War came about because: Russia was locked into this expensive war with Al Qaida, just as we now are. Russia the super power used more oil, most of which had to come from sources outside of their country. He also pointed out that because of Russia’s tremendous need for oil; it worked in then, President Reagan’s favor to impose economic sanctions on them through the use of oil and other fossil fuel. Because of these great restrictions, it weakened the Russian Economy until it collapsed. In his speculations this roles between Russia and America are now reversed, and their example is where we currently find ourselves headed as a country. His conclusion is that we, like the “Cold War Russia” was a Superpower that simply over stretched in war with Al Qaida against the then and now terrorist leader Ben Laden in the country of Afghanistan and had become totally dependent on oil from others which lead to their downfall. He also suggested that they never really stopped being a superpower they just learn a way to mask it until they could build capital for themselves again. The Great Russia In The End Was Destroyed By Its Economy! My question is how do these views show him to be a conservative? Do you think that this is the fate that awaits America? Lastly, what do you think his Conservative Solution would be?

What an interesting conversation

Last night I watched the Anderson Cooper 360 show on CNN. He had two very interesting informers on , one of them, Mr. David Gergen (former presidential advisor). The headlined topic for discussion was the "Extreme Challenges, the Next four years". On the topic of our economy, they outlined a couple of reasons why we are going into recession. First off, the world is changing dramatically with the advances of technology. Now, we are becoming a global economic society. Scary and intimidating I know. David mentions, "Technology is now flowing from West to East, and the WORLD is playing the game of capitilism. The central challenge for America is now, how to offer enough to stay competitive." On the topic of energy independence, David says " Scientist say action needs to be taken on carbon edmissions and stabilized within the next 5 years". He also mentioned that India and China signed contracts for 850 dirty coal fired plants to be built in 2012. How are we supposed to get ahead in this fight against global warming when 80% of the carbon problem will be flowing through the air from the western hemisphere. Their discussion gave me alot to think about and makes me want to hope for strength, most of all, in our next leader of this country.

“Obama, Making History”

Mrs. Obama, running for president is historical, not because he is the first black man to run for president in American history. Yet he could be the first black man to do so successfully. He has also made his mark in history because of his creative use of the internet to reach the younger voter crowd. His clever use of the internet to raise large amounts of Champaign funds successfully by a black man. He is also making history by being a black man who is winning most of the popular vote as it stands right now. We can be hopeful as a country that one day we can even get more African Americans into the Senate and The Supreme Court; this would go a long ways in truly representing America because in the history of the Supreme Court, there were only two blacks ever appointed.

Generation XXL

Do you think there should be laws passed to make food labels more clear. For example, on the back of some drinks it may say 190 calories per serving. In tiny letters at the top it says a serving is 8oz, when the drink is a 16oz. Someone looking at the label assumes that the whole drink is 190 calories when in fact it is double that amount. Is it the governments job to protect the people from this kind of misleading labeling, when America is becoming more and more obese.

clinton gave her campain money

clinton made a loan of 5 million dallars of her own money to her campain late last month. clinton is with less money and obama raised 7 million since last tuesday. it seems that clinton is letting obama get to her and she need to step it up if she wants to be successful in this race . she could go out and try to raise money instead of taking it out of her own pocket.

KANYE WEST (POLITICAL FALLICIES)

Kanye West decided to publicly voice his opinion about how he felt about our current president. I believe that Mr. West was acting off pure emotion. Mr. West lack the evidencience to support his claim that our president did not like Black Americans. Mr. West made a conclusion about President George W. Bush due to an observational study and also truth by declaration. Mr. West shold have kept his opinion to his self or his very close friends. I will not agree or disagree with the statement made by Mr. West, but I must say it was unappriotiate.

On thin ice

While everyone's attention is on the elections and the weakening economy, the government quietly started selling licenses to drill for oil in Alaska's Chukchi Sea, north of the Arctic circle. 10 Percent of the earth's polar bears live in this area as well as indigenous peoples, whales and walruses. The Norwegian company that bought 60% of the licenses said that they recognize it
is an ecologically sensitive area and we will work to find the best solution for co-existence.
This is really sad. With all the technology we have, I don't believe we still need to be so dependent on oil and natural gas. It is ironic that we "need" to destroy the whole earth for power and money, when we cannot live without the earth.

Bye Bye Romney

So now that Romney has dropped out of the race, there's only McCain, Huckabee and Ron Paul left. I'm beginning to wonder myself why Ron Paul is still there but hey whatever floats his boat. It looks like McCain will most likely get the Republican nomination and I have heard rumors of Huckabee joining him as his vice. What do you think about this?

Obama's Advantages vs. Clinton's

These two Democratic candidates will be a close fight until the end. However, both have advantages that can either benefit or hinder their progress in the race.

Mr. Quinnell stated in one of our classes during this past week, " Some presidential candidates have discovered a helpful secret in raising money for their efforts in television broadcasting and any other way to get their name out to the public. Obama is one of those Candidates that have found out this technique where as Clinton has yet to figure it out. But she is learning."
With this being one advantage that Obama has over Clinton, she has one of her own. She is known for Bill Clinton in his run for President.

Both Candidates have promised things such as a minimum wage increase and an increase of job opportunities if they're elected as President, but which one of these advantages do you think will result in a victory for one of these nominees on the Democratic side of the nomination?

A rant about age requirements

This May I will be turning 20 years old. A 20th birthday is nothing special to me. At 15 you get your permit for driving. At 16 you get your license. At 17 you can see rated R movies in theaters. And 18 you can do numerous things like buy tobacco products, get into clubs, buy pornographic material and quite a few other things frowned on by society. Twenty years old you don't really get much. Twenty one of course you get to purchase alcoholic beverages.

Here is my stand on things. If you can drive a car at 16 and be adult enough to be on the road with other people, why are you not adult enough to watch a rated R movie. At 18 you are adult enough to go to war and die for your country but you can't go to a bar with your father and have a couple beers. I actually wrote a term paper on this last year and got an A on it. It is a subject I feel very strongly about. Do you feel like the age requirements in America are wrong?

John McCain with Mike Hukabee as VP

I'm sure many have heard the rumors of Huckabee teaming up with McCain which were supposidly denied by the Huckster himself. I've been reading/listening about an under the table agreement between the two. I personally don't like either of the men, but at this point its hopeless for the republicans with Fred Thompson out of the race, and Mitt Romney's path to nomination looking slim. It's going to be either one or the other, or in this case both. How do you all feel about these two together? From what i have been hearing the die hard Reaganistic Republicans aren't too happy.

Fellow Students

I would like to see more young democratic voters come out to vote than have in the past. As for young Republicans, please carry on the trend of low voter turn out on election day.

George Stephanopoulos

I've been wondering lately why George hasn't ran for president. I love listening to him whenever he's on tv. He is so knowledgable on politcs. He has advised many politicians and was a leading member of Bill Clinton's campaign. He's young and not bad looking either!! Does anyone else know of him? What do you think of him?

Obama Takes the Majority of States

After watching the different state's polls close and staying up until 4:30Am to see the out- come. One thing is clear the people of America will be heard. In many cases as predicted the polls so a record number of voter turn-out. I am suprized at how much race, gender and the age of voters made a difference in the election. We have just learned about "gender gap" in our first extra credit assignment , it's very neat to learn something and to see it immedaitly played out in politics. Back to Mr. Obama, it is clear that many of his supporters are just plain old tired of the normal self serving politican with big ties to corparate america. Not only has Obama's being, in the race increased the black voter's turn out, I believe it has done something no other presidental race has ever done. Given all people a person a vision for the future of politics. Change in the politics was needed a long time ago. We as Americans understand that, in the White House there needs to be changes that reflect America. That change being one of race, gender, integerity, age and polictical party balance. President John F. Kennedy, being elected was the last time America really had such a shake up in the White House!

Closed or Not?

I was talking to a man in my night class telling him what I plan to do depending on whoever makes it to the convention. He told me that because I lived in Florida it was closed and I can not vote outside my party. Is this true? I knew when I went last week and voted it would be closed but I thought the next one I could vote for whoever I wanted to no matter what my party was. Does anybody know for sure?

Lets get together

As I watched ABC's morning show today, I heard something that caught my attention. A statement that hasnt been made yet about our presisdential race, or at least to my knowledge. Hillary Clintons informants commented about taking Obama as Vice Presisdent if Hillary won. At first, I thought, hey great, best of both worlds for Democrates. Then I thought, maybe it was a ploy to get Obama to ease up on this neck and neck competition. Hillary is seeing how close this race really is and shes getting scared that she might not win. "Hey if we can just get him to think he's won by siding with us, go with the big dog, maybe he wont push for the whole deal" (subconcious of Hillary). Obama declined right away to Hillary's offer saying, " I'm here to win the presisdency, to go all the way". It is something to think about though. What do you think, would you want Hillary as head and Obama the right hand man?

Hollywood in Politics

I have to admit, when Oprah first came out endorsing Obama, I was a little turned off. I'm not a fan of hers and when I saw that she was going out with him making speeches of her own I didn't even want to listen. Be that as it may, it's looking like he'll get my vote. I'm not 100% on that but it's not looking good in my party. THEN, while watching the news tonight..I see that Robert De Niro has come out endorsing Obama. MR. GOOD FELLA HIMSELF! I must say, I did feel a little more comfortable in making my final decision! De Niro would never steer me in the wrong direction, right?!?!

But seriously..How do you guys feel about these celebrities getting involved with the election? I'm sure if you're a fan of whatever celebrity is tagging along then you don't mind but what if a person does not like the celebrity endorsing a certain candidate? Would that be enough for you to second guess who you're voting for?

By the way..(not that it would ever happen for obvious reasons) but if my good ol' buddy Cliff Harris comes out endorsing somebody I WILL vote for that person. Even if they've dropped out..I'll do a write in. Harris over De Niro any day of the week for sure!

Nothing Important like Global Warming..

Just a question...Why doesn't everyone vote on super tuesday? By seeing who has won other states doesn't that kind of influence some people's votes? Does anybody else think that the outcome might have been different if everyone had voted at the same time without knowing who won what state already?

Global Warming, A Left Wing Political Instrument?

I'm sure you all have heard Al Gore's shpeal(sp) about the "global warming crisis". And how the earth is endangered and we need to spend more government funding on reducing emissions for vehicles and reducing waste and pollution from the America's industries and hoping the world follows in our foot steps. I am taking earth science for my last science credit and am always finding myself asking why. When the subject came up about global warming I just found it very hard to believe. I found myself pondering the internet and looking up everything i could about it. I have come to my own conclusion based on the papers i have read on it both for and against the topic that it is a political scare tactic and almost cult like idea. I could not sum up all the scientific proof in one sitting it could take days to write down ALL of the facts proving this "theory" wrong. Lets start off with a few maybe later on I can comment back more. If you search by how many degrees the earth has warmed up in the past, lets say, century. You will see almost every scientist out there has a different answer. From what i have read the most common answer is although a whopping .6c increase. You may be thinking "duh", the increase is caused by the use of energy by human beings. This rise in temperature in the past century started in the 1940's. The amount of industry during this time period is minuscule compared to the 80's and 90's when global warming became the hot topic. In the late 60's and 70's the issue was the opposite. Global cooling was the hot topic. Yes, global cooling the almost exact opposite of the global warming scare. This semi-scientific hypothesis did not have the effect and political backup like global warming does today so it petered out in the late 70's. These are just a few assumptions and a few ideas and "facts" from reports i have read. Its so hard to sort out all of the bull on the internet these days. Maybe it is true, after all Al Gore invented the internet.

Welfare Reform- My Perfect System, without research

In the town my wife grew up in, Mechanicstown, Ohio, her father is the only tax-paying citizen in the town. (population listed as 100, I'd say realistically more like 40) The young people in town, between 18 and 30, cheat the system over and over again, having as many kids as they can to draw more and more money from the system. One of the residents never learned to read, allegedly, though we know she can, and so she collects disability, welfare, and social security. I know this is one small town in the middle of nowhere, but if they can pull it off, imagine what bigger cities are doing. In my opinion, this is what welfare, social security, and disability should cover: people who are disabled to the point that they cannot work. The government is set up similar, but they don't check it out very well, or very often. Social Security, other than how it is set up now, the government, instead of giving money, should teach her to read. If you have been on a welfare system, and you continue to have children, social services should declare you unfit to raise a child and take them ALL away. Single mother's should be the people getting help from welfare, as well as small lengths of time for people who legitimately lose their jobs and need to pay bills, but how bout if the government physically paid the bills...they would then know what you were spending, recieving, and such. Welfare should be an absolute minimum amount of money to get by. You should not live comfortably off welfare. Any thoughts, let me know as I am interested if anyone knows people who cheat the system, or any criticism on my personal policies.

Where Are Rights In Schools?

When I was in high school, I was suspended multiple times for not following oppressive rules the school system made, which I will outline. First, our school made rules on a whim in the middle of the year about wearing shirts with a backwords R on them, as some idiot on the board thought it to be satanic. Much of the student body protested by wearing Toys R Us shirts. We were suspended. Some parents filed a lawsuit, and the suspensions were repealed and the rule repealed. Then, in the same ignorant way, skulls were not legal. The same thing happened. Then they made a rule that there were to be no shirts depicting blood on them, unless they depict the crucifixion. Some friends and I wore a shirt that I won't describe that show another version of the crucifixion, and were suspended. The same thing happened. Then, 911 happened and there was a call to pledge to the flag in the mornings, which of coarse, before, was skipped by all. They announced that any student that doesn't stand and salute would be suspended. We didn't and they did. This time, the parents wanted their kids just to do it, but we were being oppressed. There was a semi drawn out war and finally my mother stepped in, as she is a member of the board of education, and threatened a lawsuit against the school. Again, the suspensions were repealed and such.
The point is, what is it that makes the school system so oppressive and people so ignorant. The constitution holds the right to assemble, protest, promotes the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, yet these were all rights that the school system set out to break. Do our children need rules set to brainwash and make them follow what other people believe, or do they need to understand rights and understand that free thinking is an important part of what makes us the greatest country? I will still not stand and pledge, and how the supreme court has upheld the mention of god in the pledge is beyond me, and personally think it is grounds to dis bar the justices who voted to let it stand, but sometimes, that's what we need to do. Question authority, hold people accountable, and strive to end oppressive rules and behaviors everywhere. Even if you are a christian, does anybody think schools should be able to require certain things of students that are unconstitutional, or do we want to promote free thinking and absolute understanding and the application of our rights. Anybody else have experiences from Tallahassee, please, share because the school system I speak of (Marlington Local Schools, Alliance, Ohio) is about 1200 miles away, so I doubt anyone was with me during this scherade.

Hillary Clinton on Tavis Smiley Last Night

Tavis talked with Hillary about endorsements, keeping Bill quiet, and Obama.

I agree with Tavis that on election day it comes down to votes, not endorsements. But endorsements seem to be a good way to get your name heard in a positive way. I haven't heard Ted Kennedy's name in a while, but he's for Obama. I think if voters identify with a politician or a celebrity that endorses a presidential hopeful, then they could be swayed.

Tavis also pointed out that if Bill were to continue giving Obama a bad rap, that it could do more harm to Hillary's campaign than good.

They also talked about Obama's intentions to have a summit with middle east leaders as naive. Saying that the first year in presidency is not the time, and that it is too early to go into something like that.

All in all I like the way Hillary presented herself and I also liked what she had to say.http://www.pbs.org/kcet/tavissmiley/archive/200802/20080201.html?campaign=pbshomefeatures_1_tavissmileyinterviewbrsenatorhillaryclinton_2008-02-02

2008 Election

The 2008 is kind of funny to me. It is ironic that not only is there an african american to have a chance in winning the presidency running at the same time as the first female to have chance in winning a presidency. That is extremely ironic to me. Do you think it is ironic to have both of them running in the same election and know that if a democrat win it will be either an african american man or a woman?

Florida Results

I am okay with the results of Florida but I would rather Barack Obama had won Florida but I can see why he wouldn't have won. Most people are going to vote for the people that they already know and because of the fact that they vowed to not campaign in Florida a lot of people only really know about Hillary Clinton. Do you think if everyone would have campaigned in Florida the results would have been any different?

Obama Is On Fire!!!

Last night during the Democratic Debate between presidental both hopefuls for the democratic party, I think Obama clearly was the victor. It was good to see only two canidates square off to answer direct questions aimed at them indivigualy. The Republican Debate party however was little a town gathered around to watch a WWF wrestling match. During the debate last night I thought that Obama stoud his ground when he was addressed. He answered firmly when called upon. He was very clear on his choices about issues of the past, like "Iraq." He was proffecional and to the point, he didn't side step any issuses. He was even a gentelmen, at the end he stoud up and pulled Mrs. Clintons chair out so she could stand up. In that guester allown he showed young men everywhere white, black, latino, etc. that you should be a gentelmen even to your opposition. It is also my belief that Mrs. Clinton's perposed policy on health care would be too costly and even more devasting to our economy. Her perposed policy was that the government foot the bill for everyone's heath insurance. This would lead to the destuction of the insurance companies, hospitals, many doctors offices and much more. Here's a suggestion the Clintons as well as pass presidents can for go their there Lavish life style and the pay that we Americans countinue to pay them even after they leave office, then we can put that money directly back into the health care system. Obama's plans sound well based and carefully thought through. He also seem to be the one that can bridge the gap between the American People and the Governing parties of this country.
