A Domestic Impact

The declining economy has impacted not just domestically, but also international imports/exports as far as North Korea. According to the Harvard International Review, "With a decimated population, a decade of economic recession, and a dearth of communist allies, North Korea has begun to infuse capitalist elements into its supposed workers’ paradise." The North Korean Government has embarked on a number of dramatic reforms with a Chinese twist to attract foreign, US, investments. North Korea’s leader Pyongyang "has taken the chance of loosening its grip on power in order to try to rejuvenate its crumbling economy." However, its own political initiatives may backfire and cause it's flirtations with the free market to be simply doomed to failure! http://www.harvardir.org/articles/1093/
