A third grader gets suspended after sniffing a marker. Teacher says that these markers are dangerous the student was misusing them. If the are so freaking dangerous take them out of the class. The kid is eight!!! He does not know any better. This is a stupid waste of the parent and students time.

Yeah, thats a little silly. Maybe they should come up with a class about the school supplies and how dangerous thay are.

Wow this is one of the most ridiculous stories i ever heard. Simple solution, use different markers. I should be a politician.
This actually happened at my old elemenarty school. A couple of girls were suspended for sniffing markers at school. I don't think it was wrong for them to get in trouble. Atleast it brought awareness to this situation that is obviously becomming an issue in school.

That is pretty dumb, I'm sure just telling the kid "Hey, that marker is gonna eats ya brain!" would have worked just as well.
Yeah, I heard about that. They suspended that kid. That's really overkill. I heard a quote on NPR of the principle saying that you can never be too careful, but, I think this really is an example of being too careful. I don't think it was proper to punish the kid for smelling a marker. If the school is going to expose kids to markers then they should be responsible for teaching them about the safety risks involved, even though there practically isn't any.

He was just being a kid. Kids are curious. I used to sniff markers in third grade and look at me now. I'm amazing.

People are always so quick to say that something isn't as serious as it seems until it hits home. I've never sniffed a marker when I was younger, so how could this be considered as something a normal child would do. I think it needs to be out in the open to gain some exposure so something can be done about it.
