A court ruled Friday that a Tokyo man, employed by Toyota, was literally worked to death. The victim's wife was denied spousal work-related compensation because Toyota claimed he only put in 45 hours of overtime in a month. The courts overruled this decision when evidence was shown that the victim had actually logged in 106 hours of overtime, and his widow was granted compensation. I feel like even 45 hours of overtime can be classified as worked to death, literally or metaphorically. Does anyone know if corporations, or the government in the United States have a cap for overtime, or is it possible to work to death (literally) in America as well?

I don't think there is a cap for overtime, i think company set there own overtime polices.
I think this man was probably worked to death. But who's decision was it to work all the hours? HIS! Okay. Case closed.

I don't believe you can work two 'full' days back to back in America. Your required to be given a lunch break every few hours too. These rules are even higher for children.
Too bad that here in America it is illegal to commit suicide, eh? If you want to work yourself to death (literally) and you get caught your so done for.
