Imus will be returning to the airwaves on Monday December 3rd, this time with ABC. Imus was fired eight months ago from CBS for racial and sexual remarks against the Rutgers woman's basketball team, the reaction to his comments sparked racial conversations worldwide. Although Imus offered the team his apologies, which were accepted, will listeners be so easy to forgive? Does Imus deserve a second chance, or will he be boycotted off the air?

Imus really tests the concept of freedom of speech. However, personally, I met Imus a long time ago at a restaurant I used to work at in NYC.
At the time, I had a very strong suspision that he was coked up and an alcoholic. He slobbered around the table and hung out till 5:30 in the morning, only to be on the air in half and hour.
At the time, my impression was that there was nothing of value I could get from him or by listening to his broadcasts, with the exception of how not to hit rock bottom, or else you might end up like him.
From his comments about the women's basketball team, I assume he has not changed and he is just another famous "Shock Jock".
In this democratic society, we have to accept his comments, as long as he is not breaking the law, and equally, others can choose what to do with him as in the case of his being fired from CBS (good for them)as long as they are not breaking the law.
Personally, I see Imus, and others like Howard Stern, as little children who haven't grown up. We should not be impressed just because they are making so much money.
And like little children, if we don't like their behavior, sometimes the best remedy is just to ignore them and not pay attention to that kind of behavior. It works for my kids, perhaps if viewers and radio listeners did the same, maybe Imus and Howard Stern will just go away and grow up.
He will lose a lot of his listeners, because of his comments. However most people will turn in just to hear what he says next.
I think Imus will probably be a hit. I mean its like publicity. You talk about this dude for like a month straight or more. I didnt even know who he was before all of this.
I wouldn't hire him that's a bad move for ABC. That was hate speech, that could spur on violence which isn't protected under the 1st Amendment. Also, CBS can decide whether his conduct is inappropriate or not. That would be up to them and that also isn't against the 1st Amendment, which stops the government from persecuting us due to the use of it.
I belibe that the American people will soon forget what he said and move on to the next big hype. So, yes he will still have listerns.
