Working for FREE??

British Airways has asked its flight attendants to work up to a month for free because they do not have enough funds to pay for their salary. Last month the company posted a record annual loss of $656 million dollars. Although this is an incredible amount of loss I believe that it is ridiculous that the airline would even fathom not to pay its employees for their work. If you do not have enough money to pay for the labor then find other ways of conserving money, but asking employees to work for a whole month for free is not the way to do it. People have bills to pay and they can not work for free.

I agree that it's wrong to ask for people to work for free, yet with this economy people would rather have a job and maybe work for free a few times than to be without a job and not even having the option of working for free. It think that with jobs being as scarce as they are, this is going to be happening more and more with all types of companies.

There must be some benefit for working free though. The airline probably provides them with free tickets to any destination. Still, it is a rediculous thing to ask. I wouldn't work an hour for free.

That is really bad when a company will ask you to work for free, but it is kind of a glamour job. They get to fly around the world and have a free hotel when they get there. I’m sure many were willing to work less hours and pick up another job to keep this one.
