What should we do?
If you havent noticed there has been alot of wrecks here lately in Marianna, fl and numerous of other places. And if you read in the paper it is mostely teenagers that have been driving drunk or doing something real stupid on the road while driving..I think we need to all ask ourselves is there some ways that we can prevent this from being a loved one next or close friend

Strictly enforce the law and for people to thereby follow it would solve the problem. Possibly making the punishment greater would get a better reaction out of the public.
I know what you mean. Earlier this summer, I lost a classmate and friend to drunk driving. She was going to be a senior at Malone High but never got make it that far due to a string of bad decisions by herself and others. I always wonder what could have been done differently to prevent it from happening. My advice to others is if you truly care about your friends, always be above the influence, encourage them to do good ALL the time, not just SOME of the time, and be a good role model. That way, you'll never have to see the day when you're at a funeral looking down at your friend and classmate's face lying in an open casket.
Not just strict enforcement of the law will fix the problem. When are we going to stop making excuses for everyone and hold them responsible for their actions? If you can drive, you can understand the consequences of your actions. The people should start acting more responsible and these numbers will decrease.
I grew up in a small town in New Jersey. It was similar to Marianna in that it was rural and there wasn’t much to do. We were young with new driver’s licenses, new used cars, new freedoms and lots of testosterone. We had parties in a farmer’s field, drank way too much beer and attempted (unsuccessfully) to impress the ladies. Drinking and driving happened way too often. Being young we didn’t think about long term affects of our actions. Getting arrested or getting into a crash was something that happened to other people, not me. I seriously doubt any amount of “stiffer laws” would have deterred us. We would have tried harder not to get caught. There is no one answer. Education, more DUI checkpoints, providing something for young people to do can all help. In the meantime, go to the DHSMV website and update your driver’s license information with emergency contacts. That way if you are injured in a wreck the authorities can notify someone for you.

It seems as if everyone is commenting on my post as if I didn't say "for people to thereby follow it" pertaining to strict enforcement of the law as in for people to man up and follow the law.
What your saying here makes no sense, if people follow the rules they are not enforcing it, people who enforce it are the police, etc. So when you say man up and follow the law, that is not enforcement.
unfortunately people often act as if "it won't happen to me." We see this all the time:drinking and driving, smoking, drug use, playing with guns, unprotected sex...the list goes on. It isn't until the worst-case senario happens that people change themselves (and even thats not enough sometimes).
im not saying it is in every case, but people LOVE to break the law...what more can you do?...send them to prison for driving too fast?...ive almost had many friends die by only driving the speed limit...making the laws more strict will hardly put a damper in the issue...or at least thats what i think
