What is really fair?
Okay So while responding to someones blog it got me thinking about the Justice system and how unfair it really is. Take Micheal Vick for example he just got he's whole life taking from him for FIGHTING DOGS. Come on, now that I think more about it, it makes me mad. People are making such a big deal about this like he is a serial Killer. Don't get me wrong I have a dog that I love very much. If something happens to him I would be sad, but he isn't a human I won't grieve for him like i would a real person. Man people go hunting all the Time and kill Deers and such for the game, What about those animals? I don't see people boo hoo crying and giving people prison time for that Crap. Paris Hilton Received 45days in jail, but the sentence got reduced to 23 days for good behavior. Nichole Richie and Lindsey Lohan is another display of unfair Justice with there DUI charges and only serving 84 and 82mintues in Jail. Micheal Vick is facing up to 5 year in federal prison for FIGHTING DOGS. That is like around the same amount of time a convicted rapist would receive. I do believe Micheal Vick should receive a punishment, maybe even suspension from the team. I don't however believe it would be fair if they give him Prison time. You know white people hate for black people to always pull the race card, and I have to admit sometime is is about taking responsibility. However in this case I think the race card should be pulled. If Micheal Vick wasn't black do you think this would have been Made a big deal? Isn't it enough that he has had is whole career taken from him? I'm just saying The justice system really needs some work. After Paris got of jail they praised her, she scored top interviews with Larry King and People magazine. The 23day jail sentence made her more popular even with the law. She can get a job anywhere, but what about Micheal Vick. If he goes to prison there won't be a welcome party with flashing cameras waiting outside. There won't be anything or anybody waiting trying to give him interviews or even a job. As of November 26, 2007 Vick was being held at Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia awaiting sentencing on the federal convictions on December 10, 2007. So I guess I'll have to wait and see what the sentence will be.

I compleetly agree! michael Vic should not recieve such a harsh punishment. DUI is way more serious than dog fighting. One of those girls could have gotten into a wreck or even hurt somebody or taken a life and all they got was a slap on the wrist. It seems like they are going to take their "punishments" as a joke and just end up doing it again. This can ruin Michael Vics life and leave him with nothing. I feel that if it was one of us, a normal person, we would have gotten jail time or probation. Its not fair to make an example out of him.
I agree that that really is a rediculous penalty. But I think that it is more on how large his dog fighting arena is. Apparently this was a huge scandal, not just we faught a few dogs in the back yard. Plus I think that they are trying to make a example of him. Basically they are tired of being laughed at for letting celebrities off easy.

That wouldn't be so smart. Pick the minority and penalize him? It is just too easy to play the race card in this case. I believe it's really these animal freaks that are getting everything twisted up. I don't care what they want to say a human's life is worth more than an any other animal. To get away so easily for something that can cause death or harm to another human is frivolous.
>Take Micheal Vick for example he just got he's whole life taking from him for FIGHTING DOGS.
His "whole life" wasn't taken away. Before he went to prison he was a millionaire NFL quarterback. After he gets out, he'll still be a millionaire and in short order he'll find a job as an NFL QB again. He'll be quite fine.
>he isn't a human I won't grieve for him like i would a real person.
Comparing Vick to a serial killer is a false analogy. For what Vick did -- and he did kill a significant number of dogs -- he's serving a year in prison. If he had killed the same number of people, he would be on death row. His punishment is in proportion to the crime.

But none of these women killed anyone or caused any damage. Additionally, they only had one count of their particular crime, whereas Vick had many more than that. If they had killed someone or had the dozens of counts Vick had, their punishments would'v ebeen heavier.

Seriously? People who get pleasure out of watching animals rip eachother apart are sickos. I sincerely hope he gets what he deserves, and I'd say the same thing if it were a white person I'd never heard of. Animals, much like young children, are the most innocent creatures on earth. In the case of dogs, to raise them and exploit them solely for money or pleasure or whatever people get from it is disturbing and cruel. Besides, he was an NFL star. He had plenty of money and fame. So why participate in dog fighting? I'm very interested in the reasons behind his behavior.
He's from the south and old habits die hard. A lot of dog fighting goes on right here in Tallahassee, I could point out 3-4 people on my street.
Yea, it's cruel to take advantage of these animals for monetary gain, but really they are just bringing out the dog's survival instinct. In the wild dog's will fight for territory, food and an alpha position. Dog's are carnivores, they eat meat and are mean. In the wild, dog's aren't cute, nice toe-licking lovables...
It's an animal not a human. Vick got a fair sentence.
Regardless of how much money Vick is worth, his punishment is still too harsh. I understand the fact that there are laws that people have to abide by, but I don't understand the government's priorities. They are all about strict punishment on dog fighting but what about the strict punishment for more important issues. For example, why not take all the energy they're focusing on Vick and his dog fighting and concentrate on the little girls and boys getting raped and the rapists getting off with punishments lighter than the ones for dog fighting. They shouldn't turn the other cheek in Vick's case but our country has more important issues that need to be taken care of.
Here it is. Almost December 10th. Everyone is saying that no matter what happens to him, he is still going to be rich when he all of this is over. However, money doesnt make up for time lost, the stress, or the pure aggravation. I think the only thing this case has done or proven is the fact that our judicial system does whatever our judicial system wants to do.
