Good Enough

Okay listen this is the way i really feel! War right now is pointless! Okay you feel as though we should not back out, Why not? We have only accomplished half of our goals, and yes i know that this will take time but how long, i guess it will be over when all loved ones come home dead!!Thats sad to say but true. If America would just think smart there are numerous ways that we can take care of this terrorist problem without continueing this war!

Okay, first of all it would be impossible for all of our loved ones to come home dead, if the death toll began to rise to such a high number like that, we would probably pull out our troops or send in everything we had. When you say "you", who is that directed to? Not everyone thinks it it pointless and wants to back out.If withdrawing our troops was as easy as you think, we would have already done it. The task of getting out of the region is a little more complicated than just writing your opinion about it on a blog.

Let me know when all of our loved ones come home in a body bag. That is just insane. Wether or not you agree with the war does not mean that you need to exaterate the truth. America is not as stupid as you are implemeting. We are fighting terrorists in other ways already, it doesn't mean that we can just pull out and just do those other things. The war would not end just because we leave.

>We have only accomplished half of our goals,

"We" haven't really accomplished many of our goals beyond removing Saddam from power. The Iraqis have achieved 5 of 12 short-term goals they promised to achieve.

>i guess it will be over when all loved ones come home dead!!

This is the slippery slope fallacy.

>Thats sad to say but true.

This is the truth by declaration fallacy.

>If America would just think smart there are numerous ways that we can take care of this terrorist problem without continueing this war!

This is both the desire for simple answers fallacy ("just think smart") and personification. America can't do anything, it's a place. People do things. There are huge numbers of people in America on both sides of this issue, so even referring to all Americans here would be erroneous.

>If withdrawing our troops was as easy as you think, we would have already done it.

It's actually quite easy, relatively speaking. The reason we haven't done it is because our leaders don't want to do it.

>That is just insane.

This is an ad hominem attack and is not appropriate for the blog.

>America is not as stupid as you are implemeting.

Personification again. And, as a suggestion, if you are trying to say that Americans aren't stupid, you should probably make sure you spell the words in your sentence correctly ("implying," not "implementing").

>The war would not end just because we leave.

The U.S.-Iraqi war would end if we left, but in all likelihood, it would be replaced by an Iraqi civil war.

it would be awesome to pull out and it all be over, but what are the numerous ways to take care of this terrorist problem without war?

im not attacking your argument, i would just like to know

Well I need to say that yes, there were ways to prevent this war, but it is a little late for that. Unfortunately some bad decisions havee been made and now we have to deal with the consiquences. One day the war will be over but right now we have to sit and wait.

It seems we have some strong supporters for the government and the war within this blog. All I hope is that no one begins to use the Argument from Authority fallacy. Thinking out solutions on your own is always a good thing. It seems many people don't know what they are even supporting anymore or even why they are supporting it. Also, saying that if pulling out the troops was the smartest thing we'd have done it already can't be true. That government would be flawless. Nothing is for certain or 100% therefore you can't say there isn't a better way.

Im not a supporter of the war, but im always curious as to what smart ways that people come up with to dealing with terrorist problems without war. There are ways to deal with it other than war is not enough. I want to know how.

I also believe that there are better and smarter ways to reach the "goals" that America has; I just don’t feel like we can actually think of one that’s effective and could be put into action immediately

There's little evidence that war prevents terrorism. Usually, the evidence shows that terrorism increases in response to war. If you want to find out how to deal with terrorism, start with Israel's methods. When's the last time you heard of an Israeli plane being hijacked? And they've been under constant terrorist threat since 1948.

I am one of the many people who support our troups, but not the war. I agree that some how along the way we have forgotten the whole point of why we began fighting in the first place. I hope in the November 2008 elections, Americans while not only think smart, but vote for someone who supports ending this war.

We are trying to rebuild a country right now,but if we don't then the terrorist will win. They will be able to say that we defeated America
