In this article, the court says that American paper money discriminates against blind people, which may lead to the Treasury Department redesigning our dollar bills, changing their size or adding new marks to it. That is why Stevie Wonder asked to be paid in one dollar bills so he could count the money itself (so I have heard). The United States argues that blind people have adapted by using credit cards or having a clerk to help them, but what if that clerk is dishonest? I believe this is a good idea to change the paper money but how could they replace the old money? Would the completely replace all of our money or would they weed it out like they do with the new designed money currently coming out? I don't see why they wouldn't do this. Its a great idea and it will be interesting on how the money will look. What is your opinion on changing our paper money?

It's funny to me, that now, in 2008 that the courts want to make the money more accessible to the blind! I remember in the Ray Charles movie he was paid in all ones to help him keep up with it. America has been changing the money recently to help prevent counterfeiting, what's the problem with changing it to making it easier for the blind?

You know, I always wondered how blind people dealt with money. I heard once that they have cashiers fold it a certain way so that they know which bills are which. But I had the same question. What if the cashier was dishonest? Coins aren't such a big deal since they already have different sizes and such. I don't think the way our money now is discriminating, but I definitely think it would be a good idea to change it for accessibility for the blind. If we're already having to redesign it to make it harder to counterfeit then it shouldn't be a big deal to go ahead and roll that little project in with it.

Changing the American dollar makes no sense at all, it was fine the way it was. The way things are changing makes life a little more difficult. I hate adapting to change unless it is to make things better.

Wouldn't changing our currency be kind of tough? How much money do we have floating around the United States and the world? How long would it take to filter out the current currency with the new currency (if they do decide to make changes). I know they would both be worth the same, but would the currency be blind exclusive or what? It would be kind of odd it get change in different sizes for the same values. Personally, I think that our currency system is fine, and the change might cause a problem for some, while helping out others.

It's all well and good to help the blind out but i think this is another way for the Treasury Department to get people who make counterfit money. All of the currency has changed drastically except for the dollar. I really don't think that they need an excuse to change something. Government is one way or another going to do what they want.

Why would anyone want to change the American dollar. What's wrong with it now? Someone just sits and thinks up ideas with nothing else better to do. The dollar has been the same forever. Almost like an antique.

The question is pondering my mind today! How does the blind know if they are really being paid the correct amount of money? Changing the American dollar is a wonderful proposal. I think it's about time they start touching on the issues on the american soil. All resources should be accessible to everyone.

I think that changing the dollar bill would be beneficial to the blind, because i strongly think that it discriminates against the blind. How are they suppose to know what is in their hands? How would they know if they are being paid the correct amount of money? These are questions that are very argumentative to this issue.

I believe this is one of the best ideas the government have came up with. This new feature will help the blind to handle their money and not have to worry about being taken advantage of or cheated out of their money. What I don’t understand is how come it took so long to come up with idea, it’s not like people just became blind or the course of the year. Brilliant idea!
