Bush and Al-Malaki increase forces in Bagdad

President Bush said Tuesday a new plan to increase U.S. and Iraqi forces in the besieged capital of Baghdad will help quell rising violence that is threatening Iraq’s transformation to a self-sustaining democracy. The number of forces is estimated to be in the low thousands with Iraqis making up the bulk. I thought we were looking for a way to get troop out of this mess, not send more in. Am I reeding this wrong?

Most of the troops are being redeployed from other parts of Iraq. Some, though, are coming from Kuwait, so the total number of troops in Iraq will increase because of this.
