Obesity in children seems to be an ongoing issue that may be getting worse. What can parents do to help their children with an overweight problem? I believe parents need to help their children in loosing weight in every way they can. Plan outside activities that might be fun and plan meals together that are healthy. Do you guys think parents are doing enough or should they do more?

Parent's definitely need to be more involved in their kids' diets. I think one problem is that today's society is made up of many families where both parents are working and when they get off of work they're either too tired or don't have enough time to fix a good meal. This may lead to people looking for a quick meal at McDonald's; the kids love it and the parents don't mind it because they don't have to put any effort into it. I'm sure this is just one of many factors, lack of exercise is another big one.
Obviously, no one held a literal gun to anyone's head to force them to eat anywhere, but when it is cheaper to eat the bad food, how can poor people do anything else?
I got your point, I just don't think the McDonald's thing is as simple as you think it is. There are alternatives to fast food, but most of them are more expensive, particularly those that are healthy. Yes, Ramen noodles are cheaper than McDonalds, but they also have 0 nutritional value, something that can't even be said about McDonald's, which does have some value. That being said, it is unlikely that anyone could make much of a case that McDonald's causes obesity illegally, unless one can make the case for fraud -- such as McDonald's intentionally misleading people about their food -- or negligence -- allowing something dangerous to get into the food, like e coli. But haven't seen a whole lot to support either of those.
As someone who shops at Wal-Mart, it is cheaper to get a well-balanced meal (bread, fruit, meat, vegetables) at McDonalds than at Wal-Mart.
Send me some links about McDonald's losing such cases, I haven't heard anything about that. Last I heard those lawsuits were thrown out of court. The only major lawsuit I know of that McDonald's lost was the coffee case, which no jury could've possibly sided with them. Yes, I saw Supersize me. Very accurate. Quite disgusting.
Yeah, I remember hearing about them, but to my knowledge, the cases were thrown out.
1) Parents should stop feeding their kids junk like fast food. There is no nutritional value and it is just bad for you.
2) Get your kids into sports early. Get them into some physical activity that they would like.
3) Video games; as much as we like them, they are one of the main causes. Too many kids spend too much time on their computers and online consoles. Restrictions need to be placed.
4) Kids should also stop being spoiled.
Kids learn from their parents, even how and what to eat. I beleive it is the parents fault if their child is obese. Make them walk and do sports and eat/serve healthy meals as a family.
