Equal air time for presidential candidates.

I was listening to NPR or some other talk show this week and they were discussing Fred Thompson's candidacy. The hosts were discussing the reasons for Thompson to delay his announcement and what effects it would have on Law and Order. I knew about the Equal Airtime act but didn't realize it would apply to an actor's work as well. I'm mean the actor isn't even being himself but pretending to be another person entirely. It's not like he is running an advertisement or someother presidential type propaganda.

I can see why he would be aprehensive about formly annoucing his decision to run for president. If he does decide then the type of support he'd get could hurt NBC. In return NBC could decide that the attention is good or bad and might chose to something about it. He probably wants to make sure his job is safe, I would.

It isn't his job he's worried about. It is the pay of the other actors. If his episodes get pulled then the pay of the other actors get cut too. Crappy all around.
