Would The Real Winner Please Stand UP
Many republican politicians would have us believe we {America} have won or is winning the war on terror and in Iraq. Maybe they should have asked the parents who have lost their young men and women in the process, must of the republican politicians don’t have to worry about losing a son our daughter in war yet they have clever ways to keep them off-limits. It is a fact that in war lives will be lost but what if that war was unjust, how then should we react. The history of “Vietnam” should have opened our eyes when it comes to such invasions like Iraq. The republican’s claimed victory early on in the war but years later we are in fact no closer to victory or to a stable Iraq. The democrats must be losers because they didn’t see the need to go to war with out having a clearly defined plan of action and clear obtainable goals for that area. Are to republicans so arrogant as to think that that region of the world that have had conflict and strife for hundreds years, could be easily defeated by the mighty proud Americans. I would have to say that the democrats should stand up on this one; the only thing they have been wrong on as it pertains to this war is “HOW MUCH BLOOD, LIVES AND MONEY IT WOULD COST AMERICA IN THIS WAR?” If it was your blood, your brother’s life and your family’s money, which would you, say the victor was?

Bill Clinton had a clear plan for fighting terror and for finding bin Laden. His administration tried to communicate to the incoming Bush administration how important removing Osama was. They did nothing until after 9/11. The Bush administration waited around until it was too late, and have tried to blame Clinton since.
Losing people to a war, or even just in the military is a part of life. The fact is, if we didn't react to 911, more attacks would have happened. We don't go into a country without justification...whether or not you're told the whole story. When it comes down to it, you enter the military knowing the possible consequences...if you die for your country, you should be honored. Can anybody say that the world isn't a better place without Hussein? And the republican/democrat fight...you're both oppressive to MY rights, and even I support our military and the decisions made by the parties in office!
jd White., I to support our military and I support the person the American people elected to office. I don't agree with every thing they do however. As for {911}, it is a fear tactic to say that if we didn't take this action that many more acts would have followed. You miss the mark when you say that we don't got into other countries without justification, it has was proven that what we use as justification "many others Don't Think It Is Justifiable." The war in Iraq, the UN didn't think it was justifiable, thats just one example but there are many, many others. As for the people in the military knowing the cosequences, well lets just say with the economy, employement, inflation, gas prices, cost of a good education and the cost of many consumer goods many young Americans don't feel they really have a choice but to join. When I joined at 18 years old all I could think about was not being a finical burden to my mom and I thought this was the best way to make money to help her with the family's bills. I did not go in knoeing or even thinking that I could or would be killed, its just not something that is talked ever. A short time after it does become obvious because people often die in the training leading up to war or a conflict, as it is most often called. Other than that we most listen to scientific data that points out that most young people lack the ablilty to truly understand the consequences for their action until aruond the age of 25 years old, in other words they reason like a child or a teenager. Which is little to no reasoning at all.
I have family members in the military...atleast half are over in Iraq or in Afganistan (or whatever it's called) and if you ask them how they feel, they know why they are over there and they feel like they are making a difference. If the people over there fighting think we're doing the right thing, ya know the ones seeing it first hand, I'll have to agree.
Would you rather us have done nothing? God knows what would have happened if had just sat here and said, "hey guys, stop being mean!" I think one of the worst things we could do is just sit back and let other countries think we're soft and not going to do anything. Atleast everybody now knows, if you threaten or mess with the U.S. we will come over and blow up your huts!! (just kidding...kind of)
And I'm sure there was a clearly defined plan of action..it just might not have been the best one. But hind sight is 20/20 right?!? And I'm sure they knew it wouldn't be easy but they knew it was better than to sit back and do nothing.
“HOW MUCH BLOOD, LIVES AND MONEY IT WOULD COST AMERICA IN THIS WAR?”
Enough to get the job done!! Everyone in the military is a volunteer. They know what is going on and they still choose to join. The money being spent is to protect our country..I can only think of one or two things that might be little more important!
Our country is important but I think this war was of , emotion, hast, reckless revenge and for show. If it was truly thought out it would have taken more time. It was a knee jerk reaction at best. I will be praying that your family members make it home safely.
The president was also able to use his undefinable emergency powers after 9/11. Dick Cheney then went to work procuring as much power for the presidential seat as possible. I'm ready for W to fade away.
I'm resonding to everyone kind of haphazarly here, sorry its a bit messy.
The U.S. government won the moment they convinced the country to go to war with an undefined abstract concept.
Not everyone fighting this war supports it, I know of one soldier who hates it personally, and he's not alone.
This war is provoking future attacks, not preventing them. Everyone needs to realize that al Quaida didn't attack because of some supervillainous desire to destroy freedom. They attacked in response to America's foreign policies, which they see as abusive to their people.
No, I don't support what they did. Don't jump me. I'm just trying to explain their motivation a bit.
America invading two countries only supports their claims, and as we've seen in Iraq, gives them an excellent place to go recruting.
While I'm as glad as anyone that a tyrant like Saddam Hussein is dead, I don't think it's made the world a much better place. Iraq used to be a relatively stable, safe place to live, compared to the bloody mess it is now. Kids went to school without getting blown up, at least. So yeah, I'd resurrect and reinstate Saddam if it could undo the thousands of deaths this war has cost.
amuso, growth is always painful, but no one really like to feel pain.
