It is now said by some very well known radio and television personalities that were are in the same boat as Russian was during the Reagan times in office. I forget his name but I know some things about him, it’s not Rush Limbaugh but he has the same style while on the air. He also took up some of Mr. Limbaugh’s favorite pastimes that being “drugs” of course. He is in his mid forties he has grayish blonde hair, married with children and his program usually comes on channel 40, I think. He is definitely a conservative, he usually as of late any how spend most of his time attacking Hilary Clinton and Mr. Obama. All of this was mentioned to give some background on the speaker and his reasoning for his statement that he made in the evening on February 11, 2008. He suggested that Reagan didn’t bring an end to the “Cold War” yet it was that Russia it self imploded, with a little help from America at that time. He took the time to support his argument. He pointed out some similar things that Russia then and America now have in common. The biggest and most powerful part was when he said that the end to the Cold War came about because: Russia was locked into this expensive war with Al Qaida, just as we now are. Russia the super power used more oil, most of which had to come from sources outside of their country. He also pointed out that because of Russia’s tremendous need for oil; it worked in then, President Reagan’s favor to impose economic sanctions on them through the use of oil and other fossil fuel. Because of these great restrictions, it weakened the Russian Economy until it collapsed. In his speculations this roles between Russia and America are now reversed, and their example is where we currently find ourselves headed as a country. His conclusion is that we, like the “Cold War Russia” was a Superpower that simply over stretched in war with Al Qaida against the then and now terrorist leader Ben Laden in the country of Afghanistan and had become totally dependent on oil from others which lead to their downfall. He also suggested that they never really stopped being a superpower they just learn a way to mask it until they could build capital for themselves again. The Great Russia In The End Was Destroyed By Its Economy! My question is how do these views show him to be a conservative? Do you think that this is the fate that awaits America? Lastly, what do you think his Conservative Solution would be?

You mike be thinking of Mark Lavin(sp). I listen to his program every night. He has some great things to say and is a little on the crazy side which makes his program very entertaining. Any reply i can think of for this thread would lead to a liberal vs conservative fight which i don't have the time for right now so i will leave it at that!
Not really because I have not figured out which I, am yet the jury is still out. Andrew could you try to pull up Mark Lavins show from last night to see if talked about this subject?
I've never listened to the show and I'm not knowledgable at all on the cold war with Russia but that man brought up some good points. From what you wrote that does seem to be a very good possibility.
I don't know enough about the subject to really have a say on it but it is definitely something to think about. I think I will do some digging!
Kristen Paul, how do you think his veiws prove him to be a coservative?
His views are among the most pure, conservative views out there. Do not get conservative mixed up with republican they mean two different things.
And yes it is him you are thinking of, i remember him talking about these subjects in great detail but i missed most of it so i cannot comment on this.

there is links to all of his latest shows. Enjoy!
Thank you Andrew, for the information. Aren't most republican also concidered, conservatist as well?
In my opinion, america is too great of a country to end up in total economic "crash". As Mr Quinnell once mentioned in class, America is continuously evolving. So I think that America will always be conomically fine unless something very major happens.
We are a strong country but many of the strong become veary weak at times.
Russia was a country of poverty and communism before the war ever started. Americans should stop worrying about the economy so much. Lets say worst case scenario that our country did fall like russia did...and it wouldn't happen, but lets say it did, if you don't have the ability to survive on natural resources and on your own anyway, then do some growing up. Second of all, America drives the economy in all different ways. For our economy to fall is for the worlds economy to fall. And, as mentioned, Mr. Quinnell does say that our country constantly evolves...it should work itself out just like it always has (minus the great depression)
We could be heading for a great depression as we speak. My401k fell or lost a thousand dollars in a matter of a couple of days, it took me longer than that to make it or spend it.
