Two bills would tighten Florida's gun license laws

"Two bills have been offered in the state Legislature that would make it harder for people in Florida to get or keep licenses to carry guns."
At what point do we say enough...when are people going to learn that its not the guns that are the problem... it is the idiots pulling the triggers, or leaving them sitting around for their children to pick up...that are killing people...why ban guns...why make it harder to own them...many people especially in northwest Florida hunt...why take that away from them?

I agree guns are not the problem but in the U.S. right now we have a problem with raising responsible kids, and productive young adults.

i agree. guns dont pull the trigger themselves, it has to have someone to do it for them. Most people who own guns dont even know how to properly use them. Now a days they are left out around younger kids ages 12-15, that's why most of our teens are dead accidental or not.

I totally agree. People are very irresponsible. Some leave loaded guns just lying around. I think that they shouldn’t pass such a law. But maybe have some kind of gun safety course for adults and children who do own and operate guns.

I agree the issue is the people that own guns, but this could help the person that owns them to realize that to keep/get their gun license, they need and should be smart about it. To make it harder to get or keep the license, it could help a little bit, to keep the irresponsible ones from getting a gun.

You didn't link to the article. How are people supposed to know whether or not you are correctly characterizing these laws? Do they actually affect hunting weapons? Or do they deal with other type of weapons? You didn't link to the article, so we don't know.

Ok, I know the saying guns don't kill people people do. My response is alway actually guns do kill people. If people didn't have guns then other people wouldn't get shot. Tallahassee seems like it's had a lot more shooting lately and that scares me. I come from a small town so I understand hunter want to keep their guns and they should be allowed to. I'm generally not in favor of taking anyones rights away. However, something has to be done. The problem is that making stricter gun laws only makes it harder for law abiding citizens to get guns ( those who wouldn't commit a crime) while it stays easy for criminals to get guns illegally. Maybe the government should go after the criminals and not their weapons.

Martin M., if the people didn't have guns they might not shoot anyone but maybe they would stab them instead. You are right we need to find a way to keep the criminals from getting illegal guns. Maybe a law should be passed that everyone who onws a gun "must keep it locked up in a gun safe when it is not in use.

There needs to be more gun control imposed. Simple as that. A gun ban is not the answer however.

As the saying goes, guns don't kill people, people kill people. People argue even if guns were under more regulation that people would resort to knifes or other attempts.

Fact of the matter is that, it us unarguably easier to stop a criminal running around stabbing people with a knife, than a guy spraying AK-47 bullets across a classroom.

The recent shooting that happened at NIU involved a man that was supposed to be on medication. People claimed he had stopped taking the meds and was acting different and out of control. If there had been a background check when he had purchased the guns, they could have seen that the man was on these meds. They could have looked into to his bio more and seen if he was a mentally stable candidate for owning a firearm.

I have respect for hunters that shoot for food, not pleasure and sport. Either way, gun control would never lead to a gun ban. It would violate your constitutional rights to bear arms. I believe, though, that gun control could possibly hinder or even prevent certain crimes. It could aid in preventing children accidentally tampering with a gun and firing it off. Gun control could also lower the suicide rate.

Anything is possible under the right conditions. A background check should be required and looked upon with extreme caution. You never know who you are handing a gun to. You don't know if they have a wife and 4 children or if they live alone in manic depression.

Gun controll don't controll the guns that the crimnals have just the regular law abiding people.
