CONGRATULATIONS HILLARY

I just would like to congratulate Hillary Clinton over her win in Florida, over Barack Obama and John Edwards. I believe that this years election will be one to remember because not only is their the possibilty of a woman being president, but because its Hillary Clinton, so that means Bill is BACK. This election is not about race, ethnicity, and sex; its about the better person, and who will do the job of being a president, and cleaning up the mess that the current President has made in the United States. Hillary campaigned long and hard, and I believe is now starting to wake up and smell the coffee, and stop making decisions on sex or ethnicity, but on whats right, and who can get the job done.

I disagree, I would have to say, yes, people are looking for a better person, but I do believe this election is extremely based on race and sex. People want change, how much more of a change can you get going from a male Republican to a female Democrat?

When I heard what Obama stood for, his ideas and his opinions on issues, I thought he sounded pretty interesting. I didn't discover until later that he was black. Does race have a hand in the elections? To those who want to make it an issue.

I agree. I am thrilled that there is a good chance for Hillary (Bill's) wife because I really liked Mr. Clinton as a President. Lets hope she can win in the end.

Hillary, only won because many people did not vote because they didn't think that it really would matter. That is a rather dumb way to look at thinkgs however. You would think that we would have learn our lession from the whole G.W. Bush thing but I guess not.

Race plays a role in pretty much everything in the United States, this election is no different. Just as there are people that will vote for Obama because of his race, there will be people who vote against him because of his race.

>Hillary, only won because many people did not vote because they didn't think that it really would matter.

This isn't really accurate. This was the highest turnout in the history of Florida's Democratic Primary. Clinton won because Obama and Edwards didn't campaign in Florida and people didn't know them very well while everybody already knew who Clinton was.

I wouldn't say "Bill is BACK"..it was Hillary doing it all back in the day. Either way, I wouldn't say it's a good thing.

I'm glad Hillary is in the lead right now, I'm pretty sure she will do a lot for our country, but why must people bring Bill up when they talk about her? Bill isn't in the election, Bill isn't going to be running the country... I think Hillary is going to be a better President than Bill.

It is foolish to think that Bill would not play a huge part in the governing process if Hillary is elected. She her self admitted last night in the democratic debate that she played a huge roll in Bill's policies.

Mr. Kenneth, I resectfully disagree with you on your rebutal for Hillary on one point. I think although it was one of the biggest turn-outs in the history of the democractic party, we still will never really know the impact of the disinfrachised people who did not vote; thinking it would not make a difference. To me it is like the analogy you gave about the 10% of people who were undesided and their vote in the end swung towards Hillary.

Professor Rex said...

What the numbers say is that there weren't really any people who didn't vote because they felt disenfranchised. If that had an effect, then the numbers would've decreased. They didn't, they increased by 300% over 2000 and 200% over 2004. It's clear that the biggest effect this election had on the voters was to make them feel more enfranchised.

There might have been a few people who didn't vote for that reason, but many others -- many more than stopped voting because of the dispute -- felt the new urge to vote.

I feel like if Hillary becomes president William (Bill) Clinton will have a big part in her presidency just as she was in his. And either way you put it, this campaign will be full of nothing but discrimination. Either some people will not want either a woman or an african american as a president. It should be everything other than those two issues but those issues will have a huge part in this race.

What I said before still stands with me. I think it's a little bit of what I said and what you said, Mr. Quinnell. I said race only has a hand in elections to those who want to make it an issue, and you said that yes it has a hand in it. I believe that's the reason why. People want to make it an issue intead of looking at qualifications. I could care less if they were black, white, asian, or hispanic. But others would rather vote for a white man because that is what they are familiar with, and I find that to be an ignorance that is staggering.

For Hillary and Bill's marriage to actually work throughout all of the things they have been through, there has to be boundaries. Just like I believe that Bill ran the Presidency for Bill and Hillary will run it for Hillary. To address the race issue, of coarse race is an issue, and so is sex. This is the first time this has ever happened. Some people will vote for Hillary because she is a woman, some will vote opposite for the same reason. Race is the same thing. I think that depending on how this election turns out, we will see what America say's about diversity and how we deal with change.

Jd, I don't know if what the Clinton's are bounderies because it is clear that President Clinton didn't have any bounderies! It is my belief that their marriage works out of conveince more than anything else. But the question is how well will that work for the country the second time around?

Time and time again, we're fooled. I believe that race and sex does/will have an effect on the elections. Is it right? no. But rules are meant to be broken! I do hope for the best and pretend, like always that people will not juge each other based on race, religion, sex and the list goes on.
