Is This 2008 or 2012?

The other day, Sarah Palin rallied to elect republican senator Saxby Chambliss in Georgia. It was her first political appearance since November 4. The paper I read said she was greeted by thousands of women chanting SARAH, SARAH! They were wearing shirts that said Palin 2012. Not that I disagree with this at all but I think it is time to give it a rest. As we know 4 years is not a very long time but it is a way to long to be talking about the next presidential candidate. Barack Obama has not even become president yet. Do you think they should limit the amount of time that a party is allowed to campaign before a presidential election?

No not at all, that would be taking away our right for freedom of speech, and our right to protest. I do agree this is way too long for people to be campaigning, however with Bush not being the best president we’ve ever had I think people are just spectacle if Obama will be the same or not. Also you do just have those women who want to see the first woman president.

While we do have the right to freedom of speech there should be some sort of dead period for the political figure that might be or is running for office. As for the women who were wearing Sarah Palin shirts, there is no crime for this and this is ok and should be excepted. Sarah Palin on the other hand should not be able to officialy campaign for a certain amount of time. By campaign I mean signs, shirts, television advertising. It should be okay however for her to speak to rallies or people about her political views and those she supportes. Right now we need to support and focus on the new president we will have in 2009, President Elect Barack Obama.

I don't think there should be a limit, but I do think it is excessive. I remember a similar situation with Hilary 4 years ago.

Well i think there should be a limit because how could you talk about 2012 when your new president isn't even in the chair yet. They can wear the shirts because its the land of the free. But it needs to be some kind of restriction, even though the women are ready for the first female president .I personally think the world would go crazy if Ms.Palin was in control. All the moms would get the benefits.

No I don't believe there should be a limited time to begin campaigning. As said before that does violate our First Amendment. Palin is just begin her journey to reach her ultimate goals and if she's doing whatever it takes to get in office. A lot of people was saying she didn't have enough experience. Well, now she's taking the proper measures in the next four years to gain the trust of the American people. This election has made Sarah Palin well-known and its time for her to use it to her advantage. Good luck to her.

I think the key point here is that the public was wearing the shirts and chanting, this would be freedom of speech. I also think it is healthy to look toward the future if you are unhappy with the results. None of us know what Obama will do for our country, and many are holding their breath, waiting.
