I read an article in the New York Times recently by a woman who feels George Bush would be doing us all a favor by handing over the reins to president elect Obama. Basically saying go ahead and quit at the last minute, no one will complain. Vice president Dick Cheney would resign first followed by President Bush. Nancy Pelosi would become president for a brief moment before handing over the power to Obama. I don’t see how this woman could think that this might be a good idea. It doesn’t matter how much people disagree with the way Bush has run his administration, presidents don’t quit. What kind a faith would the American people have in our nation?

If President Bush were step down more than a month ahead of the inaugeration of Barak Obama, this would give our nation a sense of defeat and allow this to be an option for further presidents in the future. Under the constitution the elected president has a four year term to serve as the leader of our country. President Bush has over a month in his current position and he will finish it. No matter how many of us may disagree with some of his past decisions, he is the current elected President of the United States.
This would be put down in history just like the first black president,the first one that quit.I mean let the man get his last days off seeing the white house and being in control it's gonna end soon anyways so let it ride.

I don't agree that Pres. Bush should step down right now. I really don't think that this is a real issue because it's not going to happen. Pres. Bush has been in control for that past eight years and he may not have made the best decisions for our country, but he is the president. President Bush will remain in office until January 2009. As for the woman who made the comment about Pres. Bush she is entitled to her opinion but we have to keep in mind the facts.

I agree, what benefit would President Bush or our country have if he were to quit now. I think that other countries would view us as weak and in a state of confusion. I have to wonder what she thinks that Nancy Pelosi could do in helping the transition for Obama.
