Globalization

In class the other day we discussed globalization and how so many countries depend on the United States. I think it's funny how people are so desperate to move out of the US when things are going so well. Yet those countries rely so much on the success of the United States. My boyfriend went to Italy the week of the election and so many people were obsessed with Obama. He was on the cover of every magazine and it was the hot topic of conversation. It's interesting that we hardly ever hear about other country's presidential candidates, let alone election.

It is weird that we never hear of these things. I believe that it is because most Americans are either uneducated or they just dont care at all. I think that it also has to do with the media. They choose what we see and our media just doesn't show international news that much.

We are the country that most others look up to. They are always interested in what and how we do things, like an older brother if you will. Unfortunatly we are selfish and usually only concerned with what affects our lives, so we are not usually interested in the other countris elections. I can also add that when a new Pope is being appointed, Italy is highly covered here in the US.
