Nascar and any auto sports should be banned
I think there should be a guzzling tax, Do you agree or disagree that a tax on vehicles that use excessive gas should be charged a extra tax. Example mudding trucks they have extra large wheels and big pipes and all to make them sound like massive dinosaurs running down the street. I never would have thought that there would be people who clean there trucks just to put more mud on there vehicle so the mud matches, that's a wastful concept and something needs to be done, these individuals that do this are killing the planet and they have no consideration of enivoronmentlist that try to help the planet. Along with nascar there should be a ban on all these sports that involve excessive gasoline or petroleum usage, this needs to stop no matter on how much they donate it's not enough to equal the benefit to if they stop.

I don't think that is very fair! Nascar pays for its gas the same way as everybody else does. Taxing extra will not solve anything. It will only make things worse. If the government started taxing Nascar extra for gasoline or petroleum usage, then they must tax the U.S. postal, FEDEX, UPS,airlines, NASA, or any kind of trucking buisnesses. This would then make prices rise and I don't know if you have noticed lately, but those plane tickets aren't so cheap right now. The only way we can really make a difference is if the government will help invest in technology that will be able to run with little or no gasoline.
This thread kinda made me cringe. I am a drag racer and am in love with Florida's lack of emissions check's. I drive my car on the street and sometimes take it to school. It is a hobby for me and brings enjoyment to me as well as millions of other Americans. I bet you my car doesn't put out 1/2 the emissions of some of these beaters that run around this town. Maybe we should all just walk for now on? would that make the libs happy?
Also, Taxing "gas guzzlers" wouldn't be much help to families who cannot afford 2 cars and have to drive vans and SUV's to get their kids around. Would you want a tax on all of these families? Whats next? taxing people when their children are born to pay for the offset of carbon from their lifetime? Politicians are already trying to pass it.
I completely disagree here, not just because I am a huge NASCAR fan and it would be bad for the sport, but because makes no since to tax for extra gas consumption when they are having to pay tons for gas just like everybody else.
If you say "gas guzzlers" should be taxed extra then what do you purpose for other sevices or businesses that use a lot of gas like trucking companies, airlines, UPS, and all of those kinds of things?

I dont think it should be banned. Professional racing sports are just like any other sport. Kids grow up watchng auto sports and who are we to stop them from one day pursuing their dream as a professional driver. If your goin to do it just be careful and keep it on the track!!!
I also agree that it shoudl not be banned. If you were to argue that point, there are many other services that NASCAR brings, such as money from events and merchandise. It just the same as any other person driving his or her automobile for their commute to school or work. Taxing ONLY nascar wouldnt be feasble.
I think you need to do your reasearch before you point fingers. These types of sports are mean to use fuel as efficientlty as possible in order to put as much power to the ground as possible. I race motocross, go mudding, and am into just about anything with a motor and I am tired of being blamed for emission problems. The fact is, these high performance vehicles (cars, trucks, and motorcyles) are more efficient at burning gas that over half the vehicles you see driving down the road today.

there are four cylinder SUVs available for purchase. If people need SUVs and vans to drive their families around, V8s aren't the only option.
More taxes on the sports is possibility. Banning is not. You can't ban smoking because too many people do it. You can't ban high emission vehicles because too many people do it.
Yeah, as funny as your post is, I just don't think it's constitutionally sound to ban any trucks and SUVs specifically. Simply because there are so many other automobiles that are as damaging to the atmosphere with out falling into the truck/SUV guidelines. Also, David makes a good point, so many people drive big trucks and SUVs. Taxing them now would be like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500. However, I do think we may be approaching a point where gas guzzling cars and trucks may be taken out of production in the united states in favor of more environmentally friendly automobiles. Honestly though, I totally agree with you that people should make a personal effort to change their lifestyle in a way the is beneficial to the environment.
