A lot of people are trying to petition that the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment be put on the November 4, 2008 ballot. This amendment proposes that it should be made legal that marriage may only take place between a man and a woman, and no other exceptions. I do not like this proposed amendment. I believe that it is a ignorant amendment, and I hope that it doesn't get put on our ballot. Our nation is changing, and I think people should be more tolerant of the "new". Their are thousands of homosexuals in our country, especially in Florida, and they should have just as much a right to get married, and enjoy the benefits of marriage, as a straight couple should be allowed to. I just don't see how people can claim that gay marriage is immoral.

I agree...who exactly are we as a society to tell people how to live their lives...if that is how they chose to live their lives then so be it...is it any of my business who Tim and Tom or Sally and Sue want to do behind closed doors...no it is not...and I believe that we should accept people for who they are and move on the topics that are a hell of a lot more important to our state and our country than gay marriage...the topic itself is a filler topic tailor made for the media to eat up and people to talk about but is not really all that important compared to the economy, the death penalty, or the social security problems or nation faces today...
I think the amendment is a good idea. Marriage is suppose to be the sacred bond of a man and a women, not two men, and not two women!
