Tea Party Protesters

It has been stated in other blogs and comments that the Tea Parties that have been going on have been a grassroots effort organized solely by the people. I have some inside knowledge on this matter because I have done organizing throughout the country, and there isn’t any type of grassroots organizing that happens on this level without political backing. Without the constant advertisements of fox news these events would have never happened with this magnitude. The media was not the only catalyst in this matter. They also needed a certain amount backing needed for permits and other cost. These events were the Republican Party way of trying to regain some of the support they lost during the last election. The rallies have accomplished nothing. Anger only breed’s anger, and without any real plan of action from the Republican Party or rally members nothing legislative will ever come out us this.

"It has been stated" is what's referred to as the passive voice. It doesn't tell the reader who stated it, their importance or allow for accountability for the original person or the response. Always be direct and say who said something, not just that it was said.

There is a plan of action. Less irresponsible spending so that our government is not barrowing 50 cents on every dollar it spends. I posted something contrary to this about the tea parties. Mr. Quinnell was right. What about the protests about the war in Iraq. They protested the war but gave no alternative other than doing NOTHING to a dictator that killed off hundreds of thousands of his own people. I voted for "changed" as well but I am smart enough to realize that irresponsible government spending does not ressurect an economy, it hinders it.

Be careful about stating that spending is "irresponsible" without backing it up with further evidence and argument. Many would argue that it is responsible spending. Economists almost universally agree that government spending can ressurect an economy, if done the right way.

The government does not borrow 50 cents on every dollar it spends. The currently proposed budget is $3.6 trillion, while the most extreme deficit estimate is $1.4 trillion. If the economy improves, then the deficit number will be smaller because there will be more revenue.

It is hard to tell if the republican party is being sore losers. This could be due to blogs like we went over in class. Blogs could have got people wound up and ready to do something about their feelings. Also the media is a big reason why something small can blow up and attract national attention.
