I don't like to use the word, "U.S. Interest," that's why I wish some other critics or friends of ours, would stop saying, " we go into this country, we go into that country." We do this and we do that. And just shh! We don't do a thing, they do it to us. We are part of the victims, we're not part of the victimizers. The goal of U.S. global policy is to make the world safe for the Fortune 500. It's to protect to overall global Capitalists system.

I understand what you mean but at the same time with this much power it is almost our duty to be "the world police". Caplitalism is what made this country great and now, with government entities taking over the common stock of most of these Fortune 500 companies we are headed towards a socialistic society. I agree with you in the end though because when it comes down to it, we need to look out for our own country!

Please, describe to me, "world police." Do you honestly think this country is great? I mean, take a look around. Do you really think we are going to change to a socialistic society? Capitalism didn't make us great - it turned us into materialistic counterfeiters.

Chad, capitalism, whatever its faults, is also behind the rise to prominance of the country and the fact that Americans have one of the highest standards of living in world history.
William, the government is only taking stock from a few companies, and only has a majority stock in one. That's far from socialism. Socialism would be the government owning the majority of the economy, which could never happen here.
Chad, while it is fair to criticize U.S. efforts in a lot of countries, to say "we don't do a thing" is not accurate. We give significant aid, in military, economic and expertise terms, to many countries. We give the most in the world in absolute dollars (although not in comparative terms) and there are significant positive effects of that aid. Regardless of the motives behind the aid, it certainly does help people.
Kenneth, I was not talking about how we provide other countries. I was using that phrase to show how "we" don't have much of a voice in our government.
"We" as individuals don't have a lot of voice in the government, but "we" as groups of individuals have complete control over the government. The power isn't often exercised, but when it is, the politicians listen.
