Parents Pick Prayer Over Medical Care

It was an 11 year old girl named Kara Neumann that died because her parents said it was against their religion to take her to the doctor. She had diabetes but the parents did not know because they had not taken the daughter to the doctor's office since she was three years of age. The parents are really religious and did not believe in the doctor's office, they believed in prayer. She was in a coma before she died in the home of the parents. The parents contacted to paramedics when the daughter stopped breathing. The parents tried to do CPR but it was to late. The family says Kara could not even walk or talk the day before she died and the parents still did not take her get checked out or anything. There were syringes and insurance papers found in the house. It is thought that the family did not disagree with the belief of doctors but just did not take the daughter to the hospital. If the parents would have taken the daughter to the hospital or to see a doctor then the daughter would possibly be alive. Should the parents have to face criminal charges or should the parents be excused based on their religious views and values?

A confucian saying "When wrong, forget it" or is it buddha. Christanity can be a form translated from buddha. Sometimes being observant about what other people do makes yourself ignorant. Some politicians see so much money that they forget what is right or wrong. It's all about the benjamin's, does that help. If I was a politician, Whould I support to put the parents to punishment or not? Who cares, let god decide and the acting politician gets the money.

As powerful as the government may seem, people govern themselves to this day. Unfortunately, children are subject to their parents decisions, whether their parents are crazy or not. I think that this issue might show up before the supreme sourt some day. Until then, children have no choice in the matter.

I think they should be charged with something. After all they did do a crime by not seeking help for a child that couldn't help her self.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS HARD TO DETERMINE BECAUSE IF THEY GET IN TROUBLE FOR IT, THEN IT IS VIOLATING THEIR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS, BUT IF THEY FOUND INSURANCE PAPERS, THEN THEY NEED TO BE QUESTIONED. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO, AND MAKE SURE THE PARENTS DIDNT KILL THE GIRL ON PURPOSE, AND USE THEIR RELIGION AS AN EXCUSE.

I feel sorry for the little girl who suffered in this unfortunate situation. I think that the parents should be charged because there is a such thing as medical neglect, and also I think that those insurance papers should send up a red flag.

I definitely think the parents should have to fact criminal charges. I don't know what the law would be, but if it were me I would charge them with something like reckless endangerment or murder. The constitution lets you practice your beliefs as long as they do not infringe upon others. I think that a child dying is covered under the "others".
