Senator John McCain proposed a tax holiday for the summer. The plan calls for the elimination of the federal gasoline tax for the summer. It would result in a $10 billion dollar loss for the government but gas prices will be lower for the summer. I think its a good idea. People will have more money to travel with and also more money to spend shopping which will in turn put more money into the economy. Plus who can argue with lower gas prices in the summer when they usually sky rocket up.

Something tells me that this is an empty attempt on McCain's behalf to gain the American people's faith. Promises such as these are hardly ever fulfilled, and it bothers me that McCain would toss such grandiose guarantees onto the table.
This is probably an idea that would never be followed up. Just like most other good ideas that are proposed and would have good impact on the economy. Its quite a shame, because it would put a lot more trust back in the U.S. government.
