Down-Slide

Our country's economic down-slide has also severely impacted entertainment, on all fronts. The American public is hesitant to buy or purchase has cause a significant decline in the nation’s expenditures in entertainment and other economic markets. In fact, the U. S. Treasury Secretary, Henry Paulson, stated that the U. S. economy was in a 'sharp decline'. http://www.comcast.net/news/articles/general/2008/01/31/NEWS-USA-ECONOMY-PAULSON-DC/ I sincerely doubt that Bush Administration's $152 Billion fiscal stimulus program will generate the number of jobs and spending expected to rejuvenate the U. S. Economy when the rebate checks hit the market in May. Most Americans will use the funds to cover the necessities of life, which have also risen due to the troubled economy, such as fuel (gas for cars, heating/cooling homes), food [import/export]), and shelter. Families are down-sizing in every area, especially entertainment.

Putting that money into fuel and food and shelter still puts it back into the economy. Also, even if it didn't, it still will free up the money that they have earned for other things. So all that money that would have gone to fuel, food, and housing will now go to: movies, more food, and other sorts of entertainment.
