IT DOESN'T COUNT
Why do we vote any way? When we vote, whose to say that our vote is going to count? We say that we want one person in office, and thats just our opinion. Our votes really do not have a say so, so more and more people are not turning out to vote. Is that good for America? No, but lately nothing that is going on is good for America. What is the purpose of voting again, because some where down the line I forgot, or maybe I just misunderstood the meaning of it. Whose to say that the elector college is going to pick the person that they want, when the voters chose someone else?

If we think like that then we are lost already! What if our fore-fathers took that approach? Do you really think that they can silence the voice of many people? For many it is their hope that we should think like this because then so few will turn out to vote. This would only help their cause and hurt yours "having a voice about your country." SO STAND UP AND BE HEARD, IF THEY DON'T HEAR YOU THIS TIME, THEN SHOUT TO THE TOP OF THE HILLS UNTIL YOU ARE HEARD! Your voice is IMPORTANT; SO MAKE IT COUNT.
I agree that our current voting system is flawed. I think that either the delegates should have to vote the way we say or even better we just go by votes. Whoever gets the most votes wins, so much simpler.
I'm a woman, so I'm proud that I have the right to vote. I agree the electoral college is kind of crazy, but in many states the person with the most votes is the one who gets the delegates by law. Most other states the person with the most votes gets the delegates by precedence. If you keep silent of course your voice won't be heard. GO VOTE!
I know what you mean I am proud that because of the hard work of generations before us I can now vote and will be doing so tomorrow. My point is that now I think we should fight to get a better set up system of voting and electing officials.
Katelan , with six classes and 250 students, I can't look someone up by their first name alone. I can't give credit to people I can't find in my gradebook.
Mr. Quinnell,
My name is Katelan Folsom and I am in POS1041 MWF 12:20 p.m.. I'm sorry I don't know how to make it show my full name.
When you are in the Dashboard area, there will be a link to "settings" or something similar. You can change your login name there.
Alternately, you'll have to type your full name in each post and comment you put on the blog.
I think we still have the electoral college because it is so old. It is kind of crazy too and I do think our votes get swayed by what 'they' want instead of what 'we' want. Especially in the re-election of Bush. I am sure everyone remembers that.
Flori-duh
Votes do count. If you think things re going wrong in the country, the only ways to change that are to vote new people into office or to run for office yourself. And it isn't just the vote that is one more than the other side that counts, the margin of victory is a huge factor in all kinds of things, from policies pursued to how easy it is to get re-elected.
As for the electoral college, while in some states, like Florida, it is possible for electors to vote differently than the people vote, it rarely happens and when it does, it isn't more than 1-2 electors and it has never changed the outcome of the election.
Also, voter turnout is actually increasing quite significantly. This election is likely to be the third straight election to see an increase in the turnout rate.
