Police shot a boy over a snake?!

Well, from my understanding and reading the police accidently shot this 5 year old boy when he was suppose to be killing some snake that was in a tree. Austin, the 5 year old, was fishing at the lake with his grandfather. I just understand how you can mistakingly shoot a child, adult, or anyone else for the matter in the head if they are on the ground and the snake is in the tree? Can somebody please explain this one to me?

Why in the world would did the homeowner not call animal control? And, why would the police resort to shooting the sanke instead of calling animal control themselves? The officer may not have been aiming for the little boy but he certainly did hit and kill him. The bullet probably bounced off one of the tree branches. That is so sad.

I know ricochet is random stuff but I find it hard to believe that a bullet ricocheted off a tree and hit the kid in the head even if that is proven to be true. Not only should they have called animal control like sensible people but also they should have fired a lower caliber weapon. BB guns have the same effect on a snake as the standard issue beretta, that being a dead snake. I wonder what the officer is going through emotionally.

First of all, why wasn't this child supervised and if he was they obviously weren't doing a good job, considering he was 5 and they let him handle a snake. Second of all, how damn big was the snake to where the police thought he should fire a gun at it. Not a smart choice by the police officer, there should've been an animal control person taking care of that. It is sad that the poor child died because of that.

The cop should be charged with manslaughter no matter his itention. He took an innocent life and stole him from his parents.
