Just To Make Sure
President Bush says, "Fewer forces are needed in Iraq to keep up with the current security." But just to make sure let's send 30,000 more troops right? This is what has been going on for a long time. We are sending more and more troops supposedly to some place that is improving. What are we doing, migrating or something? This makes no sense and yet people wonder why everyone doesn't jump to join the Armed Forces. Well I don't know hmm . . . The social impact is less, the benefits are less in my opinion, and chances of dying by 'friendly fire' is just to high for us. Why are we helping out another country?

What do you mean when you say "I remember the days when these guys were helping us out"?
What people "wonder why everyone doesn't jump to join the Armed Forces?" What benefits, in your opinion, are less? An answer to your question, we're helping a country that can't help itself. Also, after 9/11, many men and women did jump to join the military to defend and serve their country.
I do think that there are many people who aren't willing to jump into the armed forces, but if the time came when the good ole' U.S.A. was absolutley in need of more recruits, plenty of people would volunteer.
You know I'm all for helping other countries, but help yourself first is my motto. 'You can't pick a straw out of one's eye before you take the rafter out of your own.' You can read that in the bible it's simple logic. After we help them out who will help us out?
On airplanes, aren't the instructions "Secure your own face mask before aiding anyone else with theirs"?
I think after the 9/11 attacks going to war and joining the Armed Forces made sense. Now, here we are six years later wondering what we are doing in Iraq. I don't understand why we are told one thing, yet government actions are another.
I was under the impression that we were hunting down Osama Bin Laden. We were told that he ordered the attacks weren't we? Leslie Drew is right, what are we doing there? As much as we fix up Iraq how does this prevent another 9/11? I noticed that these people warring with each other didn't mess with America till we became involved. All eyes on America, now people here in America are disgruntled and everyone else around the world hates us for meddling with other countries.
We aren't sending 30 thousand more troops, we're bringing 30 thousand home.
Iraq was a safe haven for terrorists...the same terrorists that hijacked our airlines and killed our people...That's what we're doing there.
The bible has nothing to do with this..Also, we are helping ourselves out. What do you think this war is all about? Bush declared war to protect the American people and I think he's doing a good job. We haven't had any attacks since 9/11, have we?
>Iraq was a safe haven for terrorists...the same terrorists that hijacked our airlines and killed our people.
Actually, this is not true. The terrorists who hijacked our planes, according to all available evidence, never had anything to do with Iraq whatsoever. They were sponsored by the Taliban government of Afghanistan. No credible evidence has ever shown any connection between Iraq and any anti-American terrorists. Saddam funded anti-Israeli terrorists, but not anti-American ones.
>The bible has nothing to do with this.
Most people who believe in the Bible would say that it applies to everything, including war.
>Bush declared war to protect the American people and I think he's doing a good job.
Bush didn't declare war, Congress did. A few of the reasons given for the start of the war were related to protecting the American people, particularly WMDs and ties to anti-American terrorism. We have since discovered that those reasons were not true, even if our leaders thought they were. The remaining primary reason was to free the Iraqi people, something that does not protect us.
>We haven't had any attacks since 9/11, have we?
Actually, we have. Start with the anthrax attacks in 2002. You'd also have to include terrorist attacks in almost every country where the government is allied with the U.S. (Spain, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Jordan, etc.) In particular, in these countries, they've targeted Americans or places frequented by Americans.
