Are you getting this PETA?
Not that I am saying anything is good with dog fighting but . . . why is it that other animal abusers are left alone? I am sure you all may know what I am referring to already. Why is Michael Vic getting hounded? Is it wrong to dog fight and right to take part in dog hogging? Quite a few people say they are picking on him because he is a celeb and because he is a minority. I am starting to lean on their side because this just doesn't make any sense. It comes on the local news all the time how much dogs are being put down do to the excessive amount of them. Granted this is not animal cruelty but dog hogging definately is.

Known animal abusers, that is if they have been turned in, are breaking the law and subject to time in prison. I believe the reason we don't hear as much about them is because most cases are average people and there are bigger news stories taking up air time.
Michael Vic is in the spotlight for his crimes because he is a famous athlete, and a role model to many. The media is doing the right thing by making an example out of him and shedding some light on a heonous crime.
Dog fighting is very illegal in the United States, as is killing dogs in nonhumane ways. They aren't "picking on" him, he plead guilty to a serious crime and he is receiving punishment for it. Most Americans would consider dog fighting to be a worse crime than gambling or ingesting things like steroids and players who have done those things got much worse penalties from the NFL than Vick got or will get. Legally, though, gambling and steroids aren't penalized as strongly.
And it is incorrect to say that other animal abusers are left alone. As soon as they are found out about, they are punished at the same level Vick is being punished.
