Universal Healthcare

Would everyone be willing to pay more taxes, if it guaranteed everyone recieved the healthcare they needed. Universal healthcare would help heal people who needed it and couldn't afford it. I think a little extra taxation would go a long way for a lot of people. Especially the people who couldn't afford it.

I personally believe the concept behind universal healthcare is fantastic. I don't, however, think that it would be as easy to implement and to make work properly.

In answer to your question, if there were no problems with implementing it and getting all the kinks worked out and all then I think paying the extra tax would be worth it.

I think universal healthcare is a really good idea. Any social program that helps the middle class will stimulate the economy. Plus, the cost of not having healthcare can ruin lives. I know some people say it's each individual's responsibility to provide for themselves. However, many people can't afford healthcare much less the cost of an medical emergency without healthcare. Also, you have to consider people who are unable to provide healthcare for their children. I think it's a really good idea. Also, it's not as radical as some people think. Many European countries have universal healthcare, like Germany and Sweden. Germany's healthcare program only costs them 10.5% of their yearly GDP compared to our 13.7% investment and the World Health Organization rates them 12 ranks higher then us at 25 out of 191 countries. There is a decent article on German Healthcare here.

I agree that universal healthcare would be great but for America I think it's just another Utopian idea that can never be reached. The health care providers would never be alright with this decision because there would not be enough competition to keep bringing in their multi-billion dollars a year. Also which president/ legislative would ever take this chance and possibly face this amount of failure and disappointment if it were not to work.

Universal health care would be a good idea, but one company would be providing everyone health care. that is a monopoly, and the prices could get out of control. Free health care is not possible.

Universal health care does not mean free health care. Every modern industrialized democratic country has universal health care. Only a few of them have free health care. In the most common system, single-payer, you would not have only one company providing health care. In fact, if the U.S. went to a single-payer system, it would have no effect on how many providers there are. It would mean there would be only one insurer and the rates would be kept low because the government would have to pay for them.

This sounds like a good idea. The only thing is that, it has to go as plan. When have we ever paid extra taxes for things that really went to the right cause? It's hard for me to believe that will work the right way.
