Obama's Plan for Iraq

On his official website, Barack Obama displays his plan to remove the American troops from Iraq in the course of 16 months. This sounds very possible, but is it the right thing to do? How would that look to the rest of the world? America occupies the government of another country, has another provocative, and controversial election and then our troops are withdrawn from a country left in tatters. America, might not have any business in Iraq, but we should have thought about that before we as a nation voted to go to war. If Obama truly believes he can solve this problem in 16 months, I question his decision making.

I believe that Obama is a man that wants a serious change in america and he will fight to make many things happen even if that says bringing our troops back in 16 months. He also wants to leave some there for protection.

I think it's smart that he has a plan. He seem to know what he wants to do and to make sure its safe. It makes sense that it would take a bit longer to get the troops out.

Yeah he may have a plan for that, but thats expected. I saw in interview where he was asked what he would do if someone hi-jacked a US plane and was headed for the capitol. He did not have a clear answer. He seems to be all talk, all ideas, and all about spending WAY too much money.

I BELIEVE THAT OBAMA'S PLAN IS GREAT. I THINK THAT IT CAN BE DONE, AND WE DIDNT REALL VOTE TO GO TO IRAQ. IF BARACK CAN GET THEM OUT OF THERE, THEN I AM ALL FOR IT.

I think you're missing the point. Bottom line: occupying Iraq is destroying the United States economy.
http://www.nationalpriorities.org/costofwar_home shows that the war has already cost over 508,953,000,000 dollars, and is increasing at a rate of 441.4 million a day.
It was a stupid idea to go in there and if we stay there it will break the back of our already weak economy. We are in the middle of the worst housing default rates since the Great Depression and this stupid war has already cost the average American $1,721.

The problem with Iraq is/was Sadam Hussen (sp), now that he is out of the picture, what ARE we doing there? What Obama said in his college interview in Wisconsin (I believe that was the state) is that he would prefer we focus on those who uh...bombed us. Alquida(sp?)? At least that's what he told them.

I think that Obama's plan could be good for America. We need out troops home now; why are they still over there anyway? I just think that 16 months too long also, unless they would all be brought home.

As much as I hate the war, in the past wars have always benefitted the economy(WWII,Great Depression). The reason we might be going into another depression, has to do with the way the media is blowing it out of purportion. When people get scared they will lose their money, they stop spending. The best way to help the economy is to give money to corporations, because they spend more tax dollars to the government. More tax dollars to the government means the government builds more money for future plans like, global warming issues, securing democracy in Iraq, and most of all restoring the economy. THE WAR IS GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY, but it's sad that our troops are still giving their lives. I wish they could come home to, SO VOTE!
