Gas Prices

I've often wondered just what establishes the price we pay for gas. Does anyone really know what determines these prices beyond what a barrel of oil is trading at in the market. What determines the price of this barrel of oil? Is that the only thing that establishes the price? Some education about this mystery would be very enlightening.

I don't believe that the price of a barrel of oil is the only factor in todays gas prices. I heard somewere that earlier this year the prices dropped a little, before shooting back up and gas prices still only climbed higher.
