Americans should try to do their part in reducing global warming. We should buy items that are more durable. We should restore items rather than descarding of them. Some things can take up to 1,000 years to decompose.

on the topic of buying things more durable..I heard that in a year or two there will only be the energy efficient fluorescent light bulbs, which would be great.

We all need to start recycling. Its not that hard to get the green box and fill it up. Also if we could re-use and re-store more. Like refinishing old tables and chairs.

I agree with that post and my commit is we need to start be using refills on the soap containers in the bathroom because there no paper like bar soaps and there less pastic when you run out in a month a refill container could last about 5 months longer than indivdual containers evertime you run out.
Recycling isn't the only answer. I work in a restaurant that uses styrofoam cups and those virtually do not decompose. Every time I get someone a drink or throw away one of those cups it makes me sick o my stomach. I think more places need to be aware of the material their product are made out of and how they really effect our enviorment.
